And somewhere, triboy is in mourning hoping beyond hope that Mickey will eventually fulfill his potential someplace other than the G League.

Serious question -- why did that take so long?  It's easy enough to find 2nd round/undrafted guys that may have potential.  Is it because his salary counted towards the cap?

Oh you ;D. How could Ainge possibly waive the most lucrative contract for a second round pick in history, iirc, after only one year, lol? ::) *facepalm*

Oh well.  So long, Jordan Mackey.  Sherrod never knew ye ;D.

Danny simply didn't want to let an asset go for nothing if he could help it, so he waited until the last possible minute to move on from Mickey.

Does anyone know why Mickey was signed to such a gigantic contract! Did he slip in the draft or something? I had no idea he had one of the biggest 2nd round contracts

rumor was DA promised to take him with a first round pick. RJ ended up falling and I guess DA couldn't pass him up. DA drafted Mickey a few picks later and gave him a contract of similar value to that of a first rounder in order to make up for passing on him initially.

They liked him, had a lot of cap space that year and the next because of the cap spike, and wanted to sign him to a 4-year deal.  Pick 31 that year just signed his first contract for $8.3 million over 3 years, and pick 32 signed a slightly less lucrative deal that allowed him to hit free agency a year earlier.  Second round picks the past couple of drafts have had a lot of negotiating leverage, with no slots and lots of cap space.

He said Celtics were supportive of decision. Mickey has non-guaranteed deal for next season that would become guaranteed July 15.

Glad he's gone. That 2015 draft was so weak

One step closer to finalizing our roster. Can't wait for signingns of Yabusele and Ojeleye to be finalized. That is the silver lining to trading AB in my book- room for both of those guys.

At the 2015 draft I literally thought DA was going to trade up for the 11th or w/e position Myles Turner fell to.
