Isn't it the coach's job to work with players so that they come to work with great attitude?

Very narrow POV of how the world works, particularly in an industry FILLED with entitlement and employees with guaranteed $$$.
Like Brad Stevens, for example? The team is paying him to coach, not to have it easy.

Well, is he NOT coaching?

Preference of personnel/players does not equal "not coaching".

What's he supposed to do?  Sleep over at a malcontent's house, and gently wake him up in the morning by saying "Wake up, Sleepyhead?"  Then he can make a breakfast of scrambled eggs, pack a lunch in a Boston Celtics lunchbox, and drive him to practice so the player doesn't have to deal with Boston traffic and roads?

The vast majority of players seem to respect both Stevens as a coach as well as the culture he's instilled within the team.  If he doesn't want to deal with the minority of players who won't buy in, that's being a good coach for the other 14 guys in the locker room.

Quoting the coach of a team that took in guys like Aqib Talib and Randy Moss and made them stars. How ironic.

Understandable, remember when we used to point and laugh at D'antoni when he was with New York ?
Guy just won coach of the year with a team with no knuckleheads.

We made Randy Moss a star? Weird.

Also, bill didn't "work" with anyone. He said show up and do your job or you'll be on the browns next week.

And Golden State won the NBA title with Draymond Green... oh well.

I would hope the coaching staff could work with a talented problem child.  Part of a coach's job is to get guys to buy in.

Sounds like you haven't a clue about Draymond Green's personality.  Dude is a Grade A competitor and work-a-holic.  Much closer to Kevin Garnett than he is Gilbert Arenas.

How much to buy this package? I would give tons of money to have Stevens wake me up and drive me to work for a day

And some people just have bad attitudes regardless of the environment.
Yes, but a priori recusing yourself from coaching players that might give you difficulties isn't very professional.

Wait, did he say "I refuse to work with players that might give me difficulties" or "I only want to coach great players with great attitudes"?

Just because I only want a nice steak for dinner doesn't mean that I'll refuse to eat ribs if they're put in front of me.
I'm bitter.

I would hope the coaching staff knows that certain problem children are toxic to a winning environment and would do enough investgating to know who those problem children are. Part of a coach's job is to know what type of players he can use to win games and which he can't...given enough investgation of said players.
