I don't get why they moved it. Maybe someone can give me another angle besides this one.

Suppose IT makes the ASG and Ainge trades him before the game. He goes in as a player of his current team and not a player from his prior team. Hence: I  may have answered my own question because I doubt an All Star will get traded at the trade deadline.

Ok, as you were. LOL

My guess is the league wants to get the possibility of trades/trade rumors out of the way before All-star weekend so that attention can be focused solely on All-star weekend.

I can't stand all-star games in any sport, so if this means there will be fewer trades I don't like it, but if just expedites things 1 week earlier, then I actually think it might be an improvement because it gives coaches the entire All-star break to plan (an maybe even practice a little) for the integration of newly acquired players.

I think this is it.  Trade rumors are a huge distraction during ASG.  Grab way too much media attention away from the event itself and I imagine it makes an awkward situation for players/coaches to be in too.

They do not want players traded during all star break, as happened with Boogie last year. It was awkward having him representing Sac at all star weekend after news came out that he had been traded.
