Yabu, Semi and Gerald Green will get the last 3 spots on the active roster.

Bird and Nader will be the two way contracts.

Gerald Green? Doubt he will be brought back

One of the two way contract spots needs to be jackson (unless Danny plans to sign a FA pg). In case rozier or IT4 sustains a long term injury

Ultimately, I believe Demetrius will be waived because we simply have enough ball handlers and his small size is not doing us any favours defensively. I also believe Nader will be a casualty of this team, unless he's willing to sign a 2-way deal... which I doubt as he can make other rosters... we're simply too stacked on the wings to give Nader a spot with questionable defense.

We need spark plug scoring in the second unit which is why I believe we re-sign Green and I also like his mentorship role for our younger players.

I believe Theis is JJ's replacement.

I would love Lucas and Semi on 2-way contracts. Lucas brings legitimate size to our front court.

So my 17 would be:
Guards: IT, Smart, Rozier, Green
Forwards: Crowder, Hayward, Theis, Jaylen, Jayson, Morris, Yabu
Centers: Horford, Zizic, Baynes, Vet FA

2-ways: Semi, Lucas

Ojeleye has made it if you read BCS' comments about his defense. Has no problem with his NBA 3 either.

Otherwise, Jackson vs one of the 3 players I have on the bubble seems like the main issue. In favor of Jackson is that he's played a bit better, he's on a contract, and the Cs only have 3 PGs (IT, TR, MS), which is one less player who could play the position than center (AB, AH, AZ, and Theis in a pinch.)

As for the 3 on the bubble, I think they know what they have in the Euro vet Theis, but I have him on the bubble since they have not seen him play against this group and he's on a minimum contract supposedly. Cs have supposedly promised to bring over Yabu (who is not signed however). Nader has been better than Jackson and is reigning D-League ROY. Think he's the last in.

Semi ....has a unbreakable looking body ,  he should join Bianes , Morris and Crowder as four tuff guys with a slew of fouls to pound , beat , foul at Lebron relentlssly.  Never lay off Lebron .....when Lebron comes in fresh body on Lebron every 10 minutes to wear him down unmercifully.  When Lebron leaves the game , he should fell like checking into a hospital.

Semi got a deadly THREE ball.

Semi is going to be a Crowder-level NBA player I think.

He is going to be a good defender and a potential knock-down sniper with his clean, compact, and consistent stroke.

The way he slides his feet is insane at his size.  Hopefully Danny can sign him to a Jordan Mickey contract and lock him up for at least 4 years.

I think he is going to be a valuable player in this league some day.  With our depth, probably not in 2017-2018, but definitely beyond.

-Jerebko is not going to be brought back
-Yabu will be on the roster

Either Nader or Semi make the final roster spot. And whoever doesnt plus Jackson on two way contracts (16, 17) imo

Yes on Jerebko - no room for him on the roster. Yabu should be stashed another year. Spend some time developing against better than high school level competition before taking a roster spot. Anyone know why he chose to go to China instead of one of the tougher Euro leagues?

What else about Yabu do you want him to develop?

He was sent away to work on his game, shooting...and he did that

Does he have to work further on adding mass onto his already beast body?

He is ready to play...

Really, really bad American players star in China - even if they are in no way ready to be on an NBA roster or if they're washed up. I'm very skeptical that time in China is useful for player development, and I really wonder why he went there instead of going to Europe.

Admittedly, I'm also not a huge fan of his game. Didn't watch SL last year, but the clips seem to confirm what the scale suggests - he's not all that nimble, and I don't see where he fits on this team. I'd be a lot happier seeing him get a roster spot only after he's shown value against better competition.

Surprised you don't have even a two-way spot for Jackson. I thought he has looked great. If one of Rozier, Marcus, and IT goes down, we don't really have another true point guard to start the first pick and roll/dribble hand off. I guess Hayward (and maybe Jaylen or Jayson at a pinch could fill this role if we lost two of these guys at the same time for a few games.

Aside from the comment Ainge made about Yab, has there been any progression on him coming over?

I don't really understand our desire to bring him over this year. He'll be buried at the bottom of the depth chart, behind Theis and Morris. It will also mean missing out on either Green or Nader/Jackson. Not a huge impact but it would be nice to keep a vet presence or develop Nader and see what we've got.

Yab would probably accept another season overseas as well given that appears to have been the plan previously. I just don't get the rush to bring him here.

I think your assumption at the end informs your opinion at the beginning.  I think we on this board assumed that was the case, but that may not have been the understanding between Yabusele and the Celtics.  The door is still open to him playing overseas another year as he hasn't signed, but it's a bit more complex than you make it out to be.

The question is whether Yabusele had an agreement with the Celts that he would come over no later than a year after he was drafted. If the Celtics renege on that, even if it wasn't an official agreement, it would look bad and damage their relationship with the player and the agent.

Not sure where this Yabu was supposed to be overseas notion comes from, other than from posters on this board. Adam Kaufman said the plan all along was to bring him over, and Austin Ainge said months ago that Yabu was playing for us this year.

Jackson's under contract as it is. I assume he would try to sign on elsewhere if cut off the roster.

So this is probably a little early, given there may be more trades on the way before the season starts, but I'm curious to get people's feedback about what they are thinking for the final roster. If there is enough interest I will add a poll for who should get cut/stashed later if it's appropriate.

Here is my list in no order:

1. IT
2. Marcus
3. Jaylen
4. Al
5. Tatum
6. Zizic
7. Baynes
8. Bae
9. Terry Rozier
10. Gordy
11. Morris
12. Demetrius
13. Semi
14. Jerebko (Bird rights)
15. Theis

16. Allen
17. Darth Nader

Stash: Yabu

Reluctantly say goodbye to: Bird, Lucas, Mickey

What say you?

Who or what is Bae? Bi-annual exception?
I assume it's Jae (Bae) Crowder

I like this nickname, coz I feel like we are dating when he complains about Gordon cheering, but he is still awesome and we love each other at the end of the night.

The mistake was hilarious, the clarification is even funnier.

The roster seems pretty set unless there is a vet that is willing to take a pay cut to play for a contender on a 1 year contract.  If they find someone Djax is gone.  If not then below is the roster but it's fluid.  I know it's young and you ask why do you keep all of those young players.  You do it to see who is worth a roster spot and can be developed for the future.  Plus you need cheap players at the end of the roster to keep IT next year.  1-2 of Djax, Bird and Allen will not last a whole season.  I think this is a make or break year for IT.  I think the C's will let other teams set IT's market.  If this happens I would not be surprised if IT gets p---ed if no one offers him the max and he bolts for another team.  He thinks he's given his all for the C's so they should pay him the full max no matter what.  If he has the same type of season as later year he will get it.  If he declines they the C's may need to find a younger PG to develop.
