For some context, here's the article explaining what he's doing.

I'm a big fan of Jaylen. He's a high character kid that is great for this organization.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

“I’m going to let them bring whoever they want. Food is on me. Everything.”

“I’m teaching him stuff I’ve seen. How to adapt quicker. I had to figure out a lot on my own last year. I had great vets, but they let me figure it out on my own. And that was fine. I figured it out. But if I had someone like myself or someone who understood it from my perspective, my learning curve would have been quicker.”

“Jaylen can help him with a lot of things,” Stevens said. “They have been in the gym a lot together. They’ve been working out together. I know Jaylen has picked him up and taken him to the practice facility a few times. Those are things that we really need. It’s important for our team. It’s about helping the next guy be the best that he can be.

Our locker room is going to be infectious with improving each others game.
I'm very proud of Jaylen and he is truly a class act.

Nice read.  It's great to see Brown taking a leadership role.  Love that he's taken Tatum under his wing and just trying to help his teammates get better.  TP for the find!

Would be cool if he invited fans. Imagine how cool that would be.

It'd be even cooler if celticsbloggers showed up unannounced.

But seriously, this is very cool.  High character young men.  Excitedly see them develop together. Could be a great 1-2 punch someday.

Am I the only one that's a little concerned by his comment about having to figure stuff out on his own last year? I'm not saying anyone needed to baby him, but Crowder and Gerald Green are both vets of a similar size to Brown, and I'm sure they could have helped him a lot. Why didn't they do more? If it was a matter of them not wanting to train their replacement, I can understand that, and maybe it's as simple as that. Regardless, very glad to hear that Jaylen is taking Tatum under his wing.

No. He has a strange relationship with Smart, I think Smart was a little Jealous.

It's just great for Tatum that they were already friends.

That's what jumped out to me too.  Having vets on a team doesn't mean they are going to proactively help out their younger teammates.  Vets are concerned about staying in the league or keeping their starting job/minutes or their next contract or their family life ...  Rondo takes a lot of crap for his character but he's known for helping out the younger players.  Think that is part in his nature and part from being mentored by KG.

Edit:  I forgot to give kudos to Jaylen for doing this.

I dont think it had anything to do with an "unwillingness" to help Jaylen. There's a difference between someone (like Crowder or Green) knowing more about being an NBA player and them being able to relate it to him. Crowder came in as a 2nd rounder, not a top 3 pick, and was less NBA ready than Jaylen. There's not a whole lot to relate to him. Green is a bit different, but it's been such a long time since he was a rookie, and the Celtics now are so different than when he was a rookie, that I can see how he could have trouble relating everything to Brown.

Marcus is probably the only player that could really relate to Brown's journey as a rookie (both recent high draft picks), but even then I don't know how similar they are. Learning to become a point guard and a small forward are just way different.
I'm bitter.

Oh man, the "Smart yelled at Jaylen during a game, he must hate him/be jealous!" Is still a thing?

They're two young guys in a high adrenaline and high stakes situation. Things like that are gonna happen, and it's not a problem unless one of them makes it a problem.

I can guarantee that there will be a similar situation between Jaylen and Jason this year. And that's fine. It won't mean they hate each other, and it won't mean that Jaylen is "jealous" of Jayson
I'm bitter.

IIRC, he has a very good relationship with Crowder. I believe there was a story last year about Jaylen hanging out with Jae and playing with Jae's kid often.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I was thinking about it more along the lines of a "we play similar positions, so here are some tricks of the trade that I've picked up over the years" type of thing rather than a "here's how to adjust to life on and off the court in the NBA" type of thing. Crowder's path to this point in his career couldn't be much more different than Brown's, but Crowder absolutely could teach Brown plenty about playing individual and team defense at a high level in the NBA, and also about working to improve his outside shot. And while Green was just a role player this past year, I'm sure he has plenty of basketball wisdom that he could pass along to Brown. Not a major issue, but still something that caught my eye.
