Apparently, we have 12 guys already guaranteed for next season:
Thomas - Smart - Rozier - Hayward - Brown - Tatum - Crowder - Morris - Theis - Horford - Ziziz - Baynes.
One of these 3 has to go before we officially sign Hayward: Mickey (cut) - Jackson (cut or traded, because he has 650k, i think, guaranteed) - Yabusele (stashed for another year).
The decision on the two that remain can be made at a later date, but I think there's a chance none of them is on the roster. Because we also have Nader and Ojeleye vying for a spot. And there's always a chance we might sign someone to a mininum contract, like Gerald Green, or Jerebko, or someone else.
So, what do you think? Between Mickey, Jackson, Yabusele, Nader and Ojeleye, which 3 (at best) make the roster?

I say trade Jackson to Chicago. They might need another point guard. Mickey we should trade to Brooklyn for an unprotected #1 pick in 2019

I think it will Semi and Nader go to the G-League.

I would prefer to have Yabu, Green and Jerebko as the final 3. Green saved us a few times last year and deserves to be in the mix. Jerebko does dirty work and will have value while Tatum is getting his feet under him. If Ainge plans to make a mid season trade Green and JJ will come in handy since they know the system and have playoff experience.

There might be other trades to come, so i am not thinking about the final roster quite yet. Is there any advantage of leaving a roster spot open, so they could pick up a vet minimum contract in the season? Or would they normally just cut someone Mickey/Jackson to get a spot open?

1   Baynes
2   Brown
3   Crowder
4   Hayward
5   Horford
6   Morris
7   Nader
8   Ojeleye
9   Rozier
10   Smart
11   Tatum
12   Theis
13   Thomas
14   Yabusele
15   Zizic

9 new players. Good luck coach.

Mickey and Jackson are cut, but they add at least one PG to a two-way contracts. With these two cuts, they have only 3 PG, so there's an outside chance that they keep Jackson and stash Ojeleye, though I don't see any chance that Jackson will stick in the NBA. They have 4 who could play center and have excessive depth at 2-3-4.

I'd cut Nader and resign Gerald for the minimum

Bringing Green back is a possibility as a microwave shooter (play him until he shows you he's hot or not).

I'd much rather bring back Gerald than have guys like Jackson/Ojeleye/Nader. Not saying those guys can't help us eventually, but we would already be adding Tatum/Zizic/Theis/Yabusele. Four rookies is A LOT for a team striving for 60-wins and the Finals, but 6 plus a second-year Jackson who got no burn last year is a little too much to ask of Brad.

Gerald could definitely bring leadership and some scoring to the second unit.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Jackson and Mickey for sure.

I would cut Nader to make  room for Green.

And Semi or Theis (maybe convince one of them for a two-way) for JJ if he would come back for the minimum.

I love having so many young players (especially Tatum and Brown), but this is supposedly a 'go-for-it' year. If we can replace 2nd founders/undrafted free agents with players who know our system, then that is an easy decision.

Mickey and probably Jackson.

One of Nader, Semi or Yabusele probably play overseas again.

I would love to give Yabusele and Semi a year on the end of the bench.
I think Semi could be a great pro.
