Good, plenty of minutes for you at the 2 this year.  From what I've been reading, though, your SL performances are leaving a lot to be desired.

Fwiw, I still maintain that he's a 3 for now.  I think he's actually a good ball-handler, but odd as it sounds, he's limited off the dribble because his legs are long and his center of gravity is high. That makes it difficult for guys to create in the halfcourt, whereas it's not a problem (and even a strength) in transition and/or as a slasher off the pass from the 3 point line.

Great observation. I've noticed he keeps his arms and hands stiff and low when he runs, maybe it's to compensate for that center of gravity thing. I think if he stays low (but with his head up, not barreling) in the halfcourt he'll be fine.

Summer League is the worst platform for Jaylen Brown to show his strength that is why his weaknesses are being revealed.

Brown is a guy who flourishes in the open court and thrives on getting the ball in transition from other players, or getting the open spot up three when the defense collapses on more dangerous players.

The problem is those opportunities hardly present in summer league because summer league is full of ball stopping players trying to win spots on the roster. Players trying to win their own spots are not going to pass the ball in transition or to an open man on the three point line. They will continue to force shots because they think scoring is what gets you notices in summer league.

Oh, and as the rookie that probably got the most run from last season and the way he played the first summer league game Brown has a bulls-eye on his back. He is also getting a lot of attention from opponents because if you are the guy that shuts down Jaylen Brown you improve your chances to get a roster spot.

So, Jaylen may have chosen the wrong forum to make his case for more playing time.

IMO Brown looks similar to last year. His ball handle is suspect, his shooting isn't great. He'll be an A+ defender eventually. I appreciate his attitude, aggressiveness and confidence.

But god, Tatum looks like the real thing, and he'll help us this year, Tatum is a natural scorer, a better ball handler, he just has more tools in his bag. He seriously reminds me of Paul Pierce.

It's nice to have this type of potential for sure.

I think Jaylen will be fine. He is playing in SL where the ball movement is not crisp, lack of an open court to get out on the break and be a finisher rather than a creator of his own shot, and is most likely focusing on areas of improvement (ball handling, passing, shooting the open three pointer) rather than solidifying his strengths (finishing in the paint, open transition buckets, defense)

Once he's back with the A team, he will not be doubled in half-court, will have easier opportunities on the offensive end to score and his weak areas especially with ball handling will be masked by the IT's and Smarts of the world who will run the offense and get Brown the ball in places where he can finish.

Brown will be fine in the long run.

We don't know what the coaches are asking Brown to do. They can be using this as an opportunity to see how he is progressing on his weaknesses. The results don't look great but it's summer league and you don't have to be results oriented. That said, his ball handling and shot creation isn't passing my eye test but it's not like he's getting any help. It looks like street ball out there. Watching the GS and PHI game afterwards was a nice break. Those teams were actually running plays!

I think more than Tatum, he's being pushed by Rozier. Ainge commented that part of what made him confident about the Bradley trade is that Rozier is ready, he specifically noted Rozier played well in the playoffs, and looks even better this summer. Add that to the fact that Rozier doesn't have to play summer league, but Jaylen does, it may be why Jaylen is pushing his playmaking development to earn those minutes Bradley left behind, that Rozier is in line for.

Yes!  Relax and let the game come to him.  If his relationship with IT becomes more of a rivalry, it will not be good.  I assume the coaching staff is preaching to each of them the uniqueness and value of their own games.

And he's had 1 outstanding game and 2 completely forgettable games. Remember, this is against summer league competition. It's a league predominantly comprised of guys who will almost never see starter minutes in the NBA (if they're lucky enough to crack the regular rotation). The ones who are perceived as special dominate this level of competition, like Andre Drummond or Devin Booker.

Portland is coming up. If he flubs that one up, thatd make it 3 in a row. Could that be categorized under "with each passing game"?

Meanwhile, Tatum has looked pretty solid "with each passing game". That's technically only 4 games though so I don't know if that's acceptable under your definitions.

My take is he is using those game as training for his vision/point foward ability,try and wrong, as a outcome he became awful on all aspects, so there isn't no big deal

spacing in summer league has been atrocious--Jaylen will be fine when the other team is not focusing on him most of the time, as in summer league. 

His hunger and intensity are great.

I also think he's totally ready to start at SG. As a starter, he can play big minutes but be the 4th or 5th option on offense, focus on playing defense, hitting corner 3's and finishing in transition and get himself around 25 minutes per game. And playing against starters will make him stronger when he plays against bench units.

They are clearly asking him to play the role of facilitator, which he is attempting to do.  This is not his game.  He's an off the ball scoring/slashing wing.  His job, and what he's good at, is to put the ball in the basket and defend.  Game 1, Jaylen be Jaylen. Game's 2 and 3, Jaylen be Lebron.

This is summer league, they are playing around with this.  Brad would never put him in this position in the regular season.  This is really mountains out of molehills.  The kid's gonna be fine, and is going to be a total stud.  Book it.
