Various reasons.

How would you feel to hear "The Nets have signed Rondo" or "The Lakers have signed Rondo" or "The Cavs have signed Rondo" or "The Warriors have signed Rondo" or "The Kings have signed Rondo" or "The 76ers have signed Rondo" or "The Heat have signed Rondo"?

I have reasons to keep him away from all those teams.

He can still play as he showed in the playoffs.

He shouldn't cost much.

He is a great rebounder and we just lost our best rebounding guard.

He has been known as a great defender and we just lost our best defensive guard.

I think what you sell him on is that a lot of players have come to the Celts and rebuilt their careers or got paid. KO got paid. Evan Turner got PAID. Amir Johnson got way more than he should have. Zeller got paid by us for two years.  He can come here and easily rehabilitate himself.

You give him a non guaranteed contract contingent on behavior and pull a Belichick if he doesn't fall in line. It will give Stevens street cred to cut a guy like that should that happen.

Or he plays really well for a year and it's win win.

Personally I think he'd rather play in Turkey or China than take orders from Brad but maybe that's something we should have to know.

We tell him he has to earn his minutes here and it's a great opportunity and put the ball in his court.

We shouldn't let pride and irrational fear get in the way of a great move. If we had a dedicated behaved Rondo on our team for the minimum that's the best contract in the NBA.  It's worth looking at.

The Rondo ship has sailed. CBS kicked him out of Boston. The C's have become much better without him.

The only reason I may agree to get Rondo back would be for the return of BBallTim.

I think he would be a fantastic backup point. One year deal at the room exception to build value, show he's matured, cares about defense again, can adapt to a winning culture, and not be a loser? Why the heck not.

That ship has sailed.

Good teams in the NBA choose a style of play, and then don't vary from it. They try to build a team around that chosen style of play. The Celtics have made that choice, and Rondo doesn't fit the chosen style.

C's have 2 guards that can play the backup PG spot (Smart/Rozier). Both will be cheaper than Rondo. Also, Rondo does not fit into this style of offense. It was tried already and it failed miserably.

Rondo isn't worth the headache. I hope he goes to the Lakers as a secret tank commander.

Rondo didn't look like a senior citizen when he was crushing us in the playoffs. He pwned Smart
