The is one point that some Lakers fans have noted that might take some time for Lonzo to overcome.

Lonzo seems like a decent kid .

But his father has ALWAYS ruled the roost , made 100 percent of his decisions.

Point guards need to be good leaders , vocal , smart , self assured .

Lonzo is not used to bossing people around or taking charge ...in forceful mannor .....he grew up submissive to a over bearing loud mouth father .

Learning to take charge , ignore his father s input ....may take some doing to break the tie .

He might have been better off on the Nets or Philly ....to make it on his own......his old man is still running his mouth sitting Lonzo up for a hard time as every player is gunning for him.

You need a attitude and Alpha personality to lead alot of these thugs and 25-40 year men who have no respect for a teenager or his loud mouth father.

Getting respect and being a leader is going to be a tuff hill to climb thanks to his moron father.

I doubt his father had much coaching input at UCLA

The sad thing is that his father is the only reason I really want to see him fail. Just so he will shut up. Of course I can't really root for a Laker, but what this kid's dad did to him was just foolish. Tripled the pressure already on the kid. And Lavar thinks it's all a big joke. Kind of feel bad for the boy.

The problem is with a lot of these guys that happens when they go Pro immediately but with Ball?  His dad won't leave his side and won't shut up.  I thin it keeps being an issue.

Just a first SL game but as someone who has been saying he's MCW esuqe I am seeing the start of what I expect.  The man's shot is trash and looks it in the pro game.

I'm rooting against the kid because he's a Laker, but summer league doesn't mean a lot.

His game is bad for summer league. There is no room in the lane to drive because nobody respects the outside shooting. It's a total mess with a bunch of guys that aren't going to play in the NBA. His game will translate much better in the NBA with competent shooters and spacing.

Part of me wants Jaylen to take this as a personal challenge and defend him today.

Why would he do that, I have no idea. But I want to see it. I want Jaylen to give him an NBA level welcoming party on defense.

He had plenty of wide open 3s that he missed.  He drove the lane but passed up layup attempts to kick out to 3pt shooters.  There was a real ugly play where he drove to the right, pulled up for an open 12' shot but rather than take the shot he made a panicked pass for a turnover.

Who are these competent shooters that the Lakers are going to have?  They lost their best 3pt shooters, Williams and Young and even Russell.  Lopez is certainly much better than Mozgov.  I think Ingram will have a much better sophomore season but he probably won't be a good shooter yet.  After that they have crap shooters: Deng, Clarkson, Randle, Nance, Brewer.

Ignoring the actual game, think Ball has some serious bust potential.  Always have.

Ball isn't a good shooter but everyone knew that.  He shot worse than i would have expected but the rest of his game was fine.

Just goes to show just how bad the Lakers could be this year. They had 3 of their 4 best varsity guys out there last night and lost lol. And Ball is a huge reason why. Terrible decisions, busted jumper, Terrible on-ball defense. Hell be roasted by any decent PG.

Scary for Lakersnation and the league. ESPN must have shown that Alleyoop 100 times

way way too early to know anything for sure. people learn and grow.

but he needs to fix his defense, his inability to go right and shoot, and his mid range shooting. also, he seems to shy away from contact, so physical guards might abuse him.

his passing is stellar. but without a very good 3 point shot, he might turn out to be pretty one dimensional.

we shall see more tonight.
