I read somewhere that ESPN ranked us around a B+ and the Pistons a D-.  Was that right?  It was on Insider, which I don't have.

Thanks for clarifying this for me.

That seems a pretty weird way to value it.

They're probably assuming AB leaves after his one season there, but a D- seems very harsh.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Hate to put a grade on it.  Each team got what they wanted, I guess but not great for either team.  Given them both a C+.  FWIW, Pistons got more talent with Bradley and a pick.

ESPN B+ (basically Cs did as well as they could given the way things played out and they got rid of the right guy) and D for the Pistons (I thought it harsh, but DET loses 2 core players in Morris and KCP for a 1 year rental).

I believe they have them that grade because it came at the expense of KCP.

I thought it was C- with the reason being the trade cost them KCP.

The summary was in one of our threads.  Can someone tell me which one it was in?

Thanks,

Maybe we can pick AB up at the trade deadline when Detroit is out of it  ;D

It's not a good trade for Detroit because most of the possible outcomes of the trade are bad. First off, he's not going to make a significant difference in their win total this year. Second, he will either leave or Detroit will overpay him to stay. The first outcome is bad, but the second outcome isn't great either because they'd be paying a lot for a guy who isn't a star.

The best outcome could be the Pistons dealing him to a contender in 6 months, actually. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens.

Yeah harsh.  But I also would be surprised to see him resign there.

Lakers fans love AB .   Wouldn't surprize me to see Magic spring for Avery as his shooting guard .

Much of what happens to Avery will depend on his ability to stay on the court and out of the Xray room.   If he can play a full season , with nothing but colds or flu ....his value could go way up.  Another 10 weeks of something else is torn and the brinks truck might turn into a mini van

Detroit's salary situation is so bad. They have so many bad contracts. There us no way they are paying AB in the off-season.

That being said, I hope AB cashes in big time next summer.

The C's needed to make a deal one way or another. AB made sense because he made the most out of the likely candidates to be traded and was an impedning FA. It stinks cause we all like AB but I think most knew this moment was coming either this summer or next with him leaving.
