Is Crowder excited about playing third fiddle behind Hayward and Tatum? Because he's bound to do that before the end of his contract.

Jae's twitter rant showed where his mindset is with the GH stuff.  I can't see him being a happy camper to be knocked out of the starting lineup and then passed up by Tatum as the year goes by.  I really don't like starting GH at the 2 and Jae at the 3.  Things would have been a lot more balanced this year if we would have moved crowder instead of AB.

Thomas-Brown-Hayward-Morris-Horford makes sense to me.

Marcus and Jae anchor your second unit defensively while Terry and Tatum bring scoring.

I could also see Smart starting at the 2 and Crowder the 4. Need brown to show improvement as a defender and shooter, but you can't really take Smart from the second unit because none of Tatum Brown and rozier are close to being able to run an offense.

Smart actually fits quite well in the starting lineup as all 4 other starters can shoot it and Thomas needs help defensively, but I think Marcus is too crucial to the second unit.

If you take out Brown from the 2nd unit....who is going to score the ball??

I dont think cbs has that kind if trust in Brown yet (to start)

I don't get where people get the idea that brown is good enough to start in the NBA at the 2

The team won a lot of games last year when Bradley was out with an injury and Brown took his slot.

Hayward will start at the two, Morris at the four.  Pretty simple.

Brown not nearly ready to start at all.

Who is going to bail out IT4?

You think IT4 can guard anyone

I completely agree.  I think you have to either start Smart and live with the lack of offense, or start Brown and hope he develops quickly.
IT needs to guard PG's.  Plain and simple.  And he's not terrible at it in most cases.  And he should be able to do it since he will not need to carry the entire load on offense any more.  And the great thing is that opposing teams will not be able to rest their PG's on someone like Avery (who was okay but not great).  They will have to guard IT too you know.

How hard is that?

Actually, I think it might be opening night:

Smart
IT
Hayward
Morris
Horford

with Brown, Tatum, Crowder, Rozier, Zizic and someone on the MLE coming off the bench. It's often been said that IT could play either SG or PG.

This is so spot on. Brad is DONE with allowing early shot clock traps

Alternatively we could go

IT
Smart
Hayward
Crowder
Horford

Smart brings that defensive identify plus he can help handling the ball.

Morris is coming off the bench. Expect another trade to be made. Morris is not starter material and Danny could of moved Crowder and Smart to make room for Hayward. So im expexting a move that involves one of next years picks along with Crowder, Smart and Jaylen Brown for a stud

IT
Hayward
Tatum
Horford
???

Im guessing its gonna be a big. Horford is not Center material so Morris will be rotating with Horford. Im expecting some length with rebounding and shooting ability along with rim protection. I cant see Morris being the answer in the starting unit by any means. We got worse not better, even with Hayward

I think I agree.  Smart as a starter could hurt the looks the other starters get if he's basically ignored on offense, but on the 2nd unit he'd be the primary ball handler, play great D and ensure Rozier/Jae/Tatum get good looks.  If it doesn't work, I'd be up for starting him.

haha, well we are going to have to disagree on the 'he's not terrible at it in most cases' part.  IT has been a fantastic scorer, but he is the team's biggest liability on D.

To me, it comes down to starting Smart or Crowder with IT, Hayward, Morris, and Horford.  I think Crowder gives us a better starting 5.  He may actually cover some of the SGs we face, it really doesn't matter.  I would not be shocked if Smart started but I like him off the bench more than I like Crowder off the bench.  I would be shocked if Brown started.

I also like starting the vets and letting the second unit be Smart, Brown, Tatum, Zizic, and somebody (maybe Mickey, Yabusele, Theis?).  That is our core young team getting court time together.  That appeals to me.

IT is not 5'7. That's fiction. IT is a legitimate 5'10, and this is not a controversial statement. We've had this discussion ad nauseum.

With all this being said, he just needs to be "hidden" on the most limited offensive guard of the opposition, but this puts pressure on the other guard to be a defensive stopper. That's too much to ask of Hayward.
