It needs to be said. A few weeks ago when the cap went from $103M to $99M, it screwed the Celtics big time. How did the Warriors slide KD right into their cap after renouncing some people but never had to trade core pieces. Why did Ainge just up and sign Theis out the blue? Could he have waited on that deal if he knew the cap was $4M less?

I believe Ainge was always under the impression he would just slide Hayward right into our cap. Now we're having to move AB sooner than expected. Probably have to move Crowder too.

How do they come up with this $4M decrease days before FA? I'm not sure how the formula is created but it's really effecting the Celtics.

We don't need to make any more moves that we don't want to.

I think celticsclay attributed some of it (this definitely isn't the most significant factor, let alone the only one) to the short playoff series due to the competitiveness, or lack thereof.

I think that could play a part.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

So the Warriors get to make the most stacked team of all time, and then because of it proceed to lower the income of the league and making the cap lower for all the other teams.

Sounds awesome. lol

Warriors will actually be screwed in a few years. Klay and Draymond extensions will come up and for the team they have now they could potentially have to pay a MONSTER luxury tax.

I've heard that in 3 years their whole roster will cost like 1 Billion lol.

Yes, in a few years it'll collapse under itself.  But it still gives them 4-5 years of dominance.

Blame LeBron, he started this mess..  Top player in the league, in his prime heading over to play with his championship friend in his prime.  "not one, not two, not three" lol

Next year we will be able to extend Smart and IT, add a veteran chasing rings with the MLE and add 2 or Porter, Doncic, Ayton and Bamba. We will be the envy of the league and people will be asking why the cap isn't penalizing us.

Golden State is doing what they are doing because they managed their roster salary situation so well. Danny is managing his cap just as well. Don't sweat it. Avery had to go because we couldn't afford him. We trade him for one of the better value contracts in the league. All is good.

Lebron ....no fault of his own being of alien DNA ,  no human has had a no fault body under so much pressure for so long .  He would have been a greek legend many 1000's of years ago.

Lebron dominates an entire conference and effect the league with anything he does.

We just happen to live during his era .

Bradley was likely deal to Detroit because talks stalled with Utah. Danny isn't messing around.
There's work to do to this roster.  And the cheap free agents will be filling rosters soon.
Its like going to Salt N' Straw in Portland Oregon. Get going early or wait in line!

And this. Yeah I left out someone had to go to clear the space for Hayward. Ainge killed 2 birds with one stone.

Yes this is true. I don't have the links handy at the moment, but multiple legit salary cap experts that cover the NBA said the shortened playoffs alone were responsible for lowering the salary cap between and 1-2 million. There were either 9 or 10 less playoff games this year than the previous year and I also believe it was the all-time record low for playoff games in the current format.

So all the people arguing how great the superteams are for the league because the finals had some high ratings should really keep that in mind watching Bradley in a Pistons uniform this year.

Blame the Cavs because they couldn't win 1 more game.
