Thoughts on Tony Allen off the bench?

Gives us GREAT defense out there and maybe with IT, Hayward, maybe "scorer" Tatum and Horford on the floor, could work!

I think he ends up in Cleveland.  Not sure that would be the best move for Cleveland, but it seems like a move they would make and if he is just taking Deron Williams minutes it probably does make them better.

I don't know. He's pretty good friends with IT, and he'd bring much needed shooting and scoring off the bench for us.
I get that, but how many minutes is he really going to get and if he is getting a bunch of minutes that means a guy like Brown isn't, which hurts his development.  Even with Bradley leaving, I just don't think he will get enough minutes for him to take small dollars to not win a title (because Boston still is a significant underdog in a Cleveland series or against the western team).  A guy Crawford's age who has never been close to a winner, I just don't see going to Boston over a place like Cleveland unless the money or role is much greater.

How many minutes did 38 year old Sam Cassell get on that 08 team? There's your answer... Although I get your point, cassell did have a few chips already

Imagine Allen and Smart on the court defensively together.  That would be something.

I think at this point we'd rather have kadeem allen rather than tony allen. Fresh legs are better than tony with his age and mileage he has by now. Its been a decade since he was with us

Jamal Crawford would be a good addition to Boston. But, I could understand if he wanted to go elsewhere (Cleveland, as others hasa mentioned).

I don't buy the stories that IT will be "ready to go" and so I think we need more guard help.

Is he cracking the rotation of any other contender?  He thinks he'll beat out our young guys in the playoffs. I guess he didn't watch Brown and Rozier in the playoffs. And they're improving. He's on the down slide.

Does he take Bradley's spot?

Wait a sec.

Would that 5 have a shot, IT/Crawford/Hayward/Morris/Horford?

Rozier/Smart/Brown/Crowder/misc. big off the bench, and Tatum if he's ready?

if Cleveland wants to add another player over 35 with a skill set extremely redundant to Jr Smith I am all for them signing their own demise...

Tony is still a 6'4" guy.  We is good on defense but both Bradley and smart are better.  He can't hit outside shots and playmaking skills are not very good.

Tony Allen made 2nd team all defense this season, right? Must have something in the tank.

So are we. There's a good case to be made that we're right there with Cleveland as the second best team in the league. Even if GS or Cleveland are the favorites over us, we're still certainly contenders.

Boston is the 2nd best team in the East but I don't see Boston as a contender because it would take 2 very significant upsets of healthy teams to win a title.  A team can't be heavy underdogs multiple times and be a contender.
