It seems unreal that Danny has gone through all this effort to sign Hayward and now finds himself in a position where he has to unload a key asset(s) to acquire another.
No matter how you look at it, the team doesn't really improve all that much with this deal. Actually, it may even make the team weaker....at least in my opinion. This is especially true if two players have to go. Plus, losing Kelly and Amir is tough enough. Giving up two players would mean four key assets gone from last year's team. I don't believe the addition Hayward and the rookies comes close to making up that much talent.
Gordon also loses out in this deal for a he left a lot of money on the table by signing with Boston. Maybe he'd be open to resigning with the Jazz if he realizes he not going to a better situation if he comes to Boston.
If Danny can't find a deal that benefits the team and puts Hayward in a better position to win, wouldn't it be a plausible idea to suggest to Hayward that this plan doesn't really help him or the team?
I only mention this because last year we saw DeAndre Jordan change his mind about signing with Dallas. Sure Cuban got mad, in life things don't always work out the way you would hope.
This changing of the minds should be a two way street for both the owners and players. The downside would obviously be a stain on Ainge in that other potential free agents might feel he doesn't negotiate in good faith. I know this may be the last option both parties would want to explore, but it should still be something to consider.
