What do I expect? I expect ten boards per game. That's all I want him to do. If he gets an easy dunk fine, but you get every single rebound when your in the game.
He pretty much did that tonight, was always the bigger guy grabbing the boards.

He'll be fine I think.  He's definitely a project but I like his motor and fundamentally he looks solid.
His motor?  He could barely catch his breath.

Zizic is a major project. His upside is Gortat, at best.

If he turns into Marcin Gortat, then that's great value at the #23 pick. I'd love to have a Marcin Gortat kind of player on this team for that value.

SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons

What if he is more like a pre-Lakers Mozgov?

Although summer league is not the greatest showcase for big men, Zizic doesn't seem to pass the eye test.  As I mentioned in the initial post, he has very little lift and lacks agility and mobility.  He struggles to turn his hips over on switches and he seems to have heavy feet.  His ability to switch on PnR and dealing with more athletic bigs (Lopez, Thompson etc) is not very promising.

On the bright side, he does have a nose for the ball and he has good fundamentals when it comes to "putting a body" on someone and boxing out, which seems to be rare these days.  I feel like he would be decent if it were the early 90's.

Upside:  big stiff.

Glorious. We needed that.

That's still good value.

I'm shocked at the expectation in this thread. You'd think he was meant to be a roty candidate reading this. Yet at the time of the pick I bet many of you couldn't even recall his name..

Actually didn't even know his name.  However, the clips I saw of his Euro play (after the pick) were impressive and he seemed like he would fill a great need on this team.

Unfortunately it is not just this thread. After every game zizic played there were threads after thread talking  about the next seasons starting pf....he is better than his summer league performance, he keeps his head low a d works hard but he won't be a starting 5 player anytime soon.. If ever... But he is a low first round pick with very good stats in junior tournaments solid games in euroleague and   willing to stay another year in Europe.

For God's shake PHO spent a lottery pick on Bender and we worry about Zizic?

Slower than I expected...but SL is so raggedy...hard to get a lot out of it.

There's a couple of things that are concerning which I really don't think have much to do with playing in SL.
- He seems to get stripped of the ball more often than I would like.
- He got stuffed at rim a couple of times, at least one of which was by a smaller man

I hope he can clean these things up and work on his conditioning.  Then I think we have a useful player.

Really? People have been hyping him for months based on what he did in a few games with Darussafaka. I can't count the number of posts that projected him as our starting 5 next year.

I saw some nice things in his highlight reels, but those are always wildly one-sided (watch the DraftExpress strength clips, gauge your feelings about the player, then watch the weakness eval) and there were always plenty of obvious questions to ask about him. He's 20. The level of agility and strength he was playing against is *much* lower. The book on him isn't written yet - he may pan out. But talk of him as a starting 5 on a playoff team next year was always much too optimistic.

Don't even get me started on people posting that Yabusele is ready to start at the 4 after dominating in China. Maybe I should show them tapes of a guy scoring 30 in my rec league - because look at how easily he scores! He's the guy the Celtics really need!

Meanwhile, Lonzo Ball only put up 5 pts and 5 ast on his Vegas debut. So put the pipe down own lashing out on this young big guy.

I think you put the expectations in place nicely. Danny brought a coach over from Europe to work with Zizic all summer. I think it shows that Danny sees this kid as a project, which he is. The summer league is like one of those fun house mirrors when evaluating talent, it distorts everything. Zizic is ill fitting for chaotic summer league play and I think will be better in a very structured environment. Brad will make sure that he knows his job and plays within the team concept.

Zizic has the potential to be a valuable role player. Maybe in a Perk type of way, though without all the defined muscles. He sets strong picks. He boxes out tremendously. Has good hands. And is big and very strong. But he is very limited and not in NBA shape right now. He is a serious project but we will see what becomes of him. If the Cs land Ayton or Bamba, long term I see Zizic as a third big off the bench

Hayward
Smart
IT4

Theis
Yabu
Brown
Smart
Rozier

Tatum
Semi
Nader

send down to G league
Zizic
Jackson

Not 100% sure but pretty sure Yabu has to be stashed another year
