My initial impression that he reminds me of a young Kendrick Perkins is being confirmed. There is value there, even in this ever changing league, but it will have limited utility. Mostly when the other team sticks a big guy on the floor. I think Brad will figure out how to exploit his strengths, and hide his weaknesses. He is a master at that.

The kid is a very hard worker, and won't give up. I am tempering my expectations.

How much value does a Perkins have in todays league?

Zizic looks like he doesnt mind getting his hands dirty.

But moving backwards on two occassion (1 from 76ers game and 1 from Spurs game,) he almost tripped on his own feet.

He looks hunched even when standing upright plus cant jump

Didnt Kevin O'connor state he would have been a top 10 pick in this years draft?

Really??

You have the audacity the question other's projection, after all you've said about Mickey?!

And to the rest who are judging a player's career by SL games, shame on you!

We all know SL isnt an indication of how a player will be. Its there to find out what you need to be working on. (esp for guys on guaranteed contracts)

Just as we cannot fully rejoice what Tatum has been doing, we must not crucify Zizic by 2 games alone. smh

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Its the Summer League, which is guard heavy...

Zizic is a bruiser like Perkins. He's gonna be a tough player to overcome if he ever manage to condition himself NBA ready, and learn a mid range shot.

Zizic is a bruiser like Perkins.

To me, this has been the biggest disappointment. I never figured he'd be quick or a great leaper, but I did expect him to bring a load. I haven't seen it.

While he's definitely a willing rebounder and he isn't weak, I'm not seeing plus strength and balance. More than once I saw him bounce off other players trying to get position, and I've seen a few shove him aside all too easily to take a rebound he was otherwise in position to get. Maybe he should study Kevin Love tapes; figure out how he manages to root players out of position.

For sure, it's just SL, and he's just 20. He should get a lot stronger over the next few years. But this isn't what I was hoping to see from him physically, after all the excitement about him playing in Europe against older players.

Actually, I think he has that mindset but let's be honest he was getting bruised more than bruising others thus far in summer league.

He is a rookie, he seems to go after the ball, it is too early to judge him.   He needs some work in the weight room and I think he was not well conditioned the first game which made him look even slower.

I was not expecting a world beater but rather a backup center.   That is what he is right now.  But I can see he is trying and that is important to me as a fan.

Zizic looks like a bigger Perkins.  Hopefully he improves his game speed after more reps.  Sometimes young rookies get wide eyed at the speed of the pro game in North America.

Once he gets reps and the game 'slows down' for him, I'd expect a better showing from Zizic.  He does look big and tough out there, but he needs to do more to earn a roster spot.  With the Celtics cap situation and lack of bigs though, I expect him to make the roster out of camp unless he absolutely shows no improvements at all.

Minus the physique and muscles?   Perhaps.

Yes. He'll have a role on this team going forward. He's raw but we that from just watching his highlights.

Yes.

He is huge.

He has good hands.

He is big.

He rebounds.

I think the rest of the complaints about him are due to his super long EU season and getting used to NBA rules.

Guys, it's summer league.  It's run and gun, disorganized street ball where the majority of the players on the court are smalls trying to make an impression.  It is the absolute worst place for a more traditional low post big to play, or showcase any skills.

This X 1000.  The games are half chaos.  Zizic will look much better with the big league guys.

Who was it that said if Zizic was coming out this year he would have been a top 10 pick? Because that person's ability to judge talent must suck. Zizic seems to be exactly what you would expect from a very late 1st round pick, lacking talent or lacking athleticism or both.

I had to repost this quote because it was hilarious.

Zizic is about what I expected him to be.

Pro's: Really good hands, good dunker, boxes out, rolls to the rim every chance he gets.  Big body.  Still young.  Averaging 9 rbs per 36 in summer league

Con's: No offense whatsoever once he's more than a few feet from the rim. Can only play 10 minutes a game with full effort before blowing his stack.  Not a rim protector, not a leaper.  Underwhelming defender.  Foul-prone.  Averaging 9 rbs per 36 in summer league.

Generally bigs with NBA level talent dominate Summer League at some point due to the complete the lack of competition at the position.  Hopefully Androslav (whose opinion on European players I hold in high regard) is right and Zizic is experiencing something like a rookie wall having come off playing a long European season.

I still wish we had drafted Zubac instead.

That projection was based off his promising performance in the next-best professional bball league on the planet, not the 2-games in a half-serious pickup game-like league that we are watching now.

I trust NBA scouts far more than anyone on this board.
