My initial impression that he reminds me of a young Kendrick Perkins is being confirmed. There is value there, even in this ever changing league, but it will have limited utility. Mostly when the other team sticks a big guy on the floor. I think Brad will figure out how to exploit his strengths, and hide his weaknesses. He is a master at that.

The kid is a very hard worker, and won't give up. I am tempering my expectations.

How much value does a Perkins have in todays league?

Zizic looks like he doesnt mind getting his hands dirty.

But moving backwards on two occassion (1 from 76ers game and 1 from Spurs game,) he almost tripped on his own feet.

He looks hunched even when standing upright plus cant jump

Didnt Kevin O'connor state he would have been a top 10 pick in this years draft?

Really??

If he were indeed a Perkins type of player, he'd have some worth. But Zizic isn't rebounding, blocking shots, or bullying the paint with the same impact Perkins had.

Do you remember Perk's first couple of seasons in the league?  No offensive game to speak of and he was a fouling machine.  Zizic has a nose for the ball.  He's just a step behind everything so far because he's struggling with the speed of the game.  I would caution that you're not judging him for now - you have to project what he'll hopefully develop into.

Reminds me of a shorter dragon bender with no perimeter game.  I'll give him time but what a dissapointment so far  :P

I never thought he would be more than a 7/8 man.   But I do not think he has lived up to that yet, nor have I written him off.

Absolutely I do and I agree that Perkins was both a terrible offensive player and in constant foul trouble. However, I also remember Perkins' reputation as an elite shot blocker and how that transitioned fairly quickly (1.5 BPG by his third season at 21 years old) and even saw it during those crummy years where he averaged 3 MPG and 9 MPG. I didn't buy that Perkins would ever develop into a starter and I was wrong (thankfully).

With Zizic, I guess I'm failing to do exactly what you're saying: what will he develop into? I mean, even looking at his last season in Europe it's clear that he doesn't block a lot of shots, doesn't make plays off of the pass, and shoots poorly from the line. What I see in those numbers is a guy who can score 13 a game from fairly close and rebound pretty well. When you package those positives with a large frame and subpar athleticism, I guess I don't see the upside that others have suggested and these SL performances aren't helping me come around on him either.

I am probably one of the biggest Per supporters ever, but Ziziz is waaaaayyyyyy ahead of Perk at the same age. Perk was god awful until his 4th year at least..

Zizic will be fine for what the expectation is, a solid enforcer in the paint and probably a backup C.

Perk's third year was his breakout - he averaged 5 PPG, 6 RPG, 1.5 BPG in under 20 MPG. That became his typical production for the years following as a Celtic. If Zizic approaches that next year (when he's 21) that would be outstanding. I'm not sure if that's his game, though. Blocking less than a shot a game last season in Europe is a strong indicator that he's not going to protect the rim similarly.

I think Zizic will be fine as well. He'll be a good backup against big centers we had no answer for last year, Hello Robin Lopez. He's a step slow right now but he's boxing out and bodying people. He had a block and a steal in the last game and changed a lot of shots just with his size. He has a lot to learn and lots of work to put in but he is a big, big man. He's only 20 years old...

Cause Kevin O'Connor actually scouted him and watched his play in Europe. 2 SL games aren't going to change what he thinks of him. But of course the fans are different and judge everyone based on SL.

He looks slower and more ground-bound (i.e. more Perkins-esque) than I expected based on the film from Euro play.

Hopefully it's a conditioning thing and he shows more agility and explosiveness as he gets his legs under him.

omfg I almost spat out my coffee laughing at this comment! I like Zizic and I think people are being too harsh on him for his 2nd game in a C's uniform but this was hilarious LOL.

Guys, it's summer league.  It's run and gun, disorganized street ball where the majority of the players on the court are smalls trying to make an impression.  It is the absolute worst place for a more traditional low post big to play, or showcase any skills.

From the 2 games I've watched, which is such a small sample size, I'd say Zizic looks  slower, and more prodding than I thought he would.  Thing is, he also looks much bigger and imposing as well.  I thought he would be skinnier. He's a big dude.  I'm very much interested in seeing him in a more organized setting during the regular season, when there are more half court sets.  He looks like he's going to be one of those immovable objects in the low post.  Someone no one wants to bang with.   The biggest con I see in the 2 games is foot speed.  He looks like he might have to really concentrate on not getting beat up the court by quicker bigs.  Again though, it's only 2 games in SL.
