Who was it that said if Zizic was coming out this year he would have been a top 10 pick? Because that person's ability to judge talent must suck. Zizic seems to be exactly what youveould expect from a very late 1st round pick, lacking talent or lacking athleticism or both.

Someone who isn't going to help this team any time soon, for certain.

I didn't expect anything, given what I've observed in Europe online.

Just another Ainge draft pick wildly overrated by the fans.
I agree..
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Post moves were about what I expected.
Obviously strong
Does something very few current Cs do - which is find a body and box out when the shot goes up.
Dunks near the basket, not explosive, but with power

On the negative
Would have hoped he'd be in better condition and hustle back down the court on defense, he often seemed behind the guy he was covering
Not great hands
No handles what so ever
Free throws look awkward

I had hoped he would be a bit more dominant in summer league given how much pro (albeit Europe) experience he had, but by and large he is what I expected - pretty raw, pretty physically talented.

i expected a bit more given the hype around him in Europe, he is very stiff on offense and isn't very mobile. I guess you can say he's more of a traditional center? very slow and not alert on most plays

BUT there are some good coming out of those games, he's big and does have good size, I think he's pretty good on post defense. Doesn't look like a strong rebounder as people are saying he is.

I mentioned in past posts that I wish for the guy to be a Valuciunus lite, does anyone have stats on him during his SL games and compare him to Zizic?

I only saw the first game, but he looked super tired. I wonder if the altitude and speed of game is affecting him. In the first game he played 19min for 9 points and 5 rebounds and a plus-6. The second game he played 23min and was 6 and 6 with a minus-11. To be fair, besides Tatum, it looks like the whole team was trash the second game, including Brown. I also think there is a coaching discrepancy in the Summer League games when the assistant coaches take over. I think it was last year between Utah and Las Vegas, they were amazing in Utah and awful in Vegas after switching coaches.

I like Zizic, thought he looked decent against Philly. I'll wait to pass judgement because there are too many external factors at play.

My initial impression that he reminds me of a young Kendrick Perkins is being confirmed. There is value there, even in this ever changing league, but it will have limited utility. Mostly when the other team sticks a big guy on the floor. I think Brad will figure out how to exploit his strengths, and hide his weaknesses. He is a master at that.

The kid is a very hard worker, and won't give up. I am tempering my expectations.

Things to consider:

- Dude's 20.
- Summer league games tend to favor ball handlers and one-on-one players. It's especially hard to gauge a big's usefulness in summer league, given the pure chaos.

How much value does a Perkins have in todays league?

Zizic looks like he doesnt mind getting his hands dirty.

But moving backwards on two occassion (1 from 76ers game and 1 from Spurs game,) he almost tripped on his own feet.

He looks hunched even when standing upright plus cant jump

Didnt Kevin O'connor state he would have been a top 10 pick in this years draft?

Really??

He won't help us this year very much. He looks raw and behind on almost every play. But he's physical, 6-11, very young, and a hard worker, he should make the team and be given a shot.

Looked better in game 1 than game 2.  In G1, I saw a few post moves, though they were deliberate, he uses his size well to pivot into position.

Loots of excuses for him here, and I agree with most of them, except his age.  He was not the only 20-year old on the court.  Heck Tatum is 19 as are others in SL, I'm sure.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
he looks a bit overweight, stiff and possibly injured as if something is wrong with his back and he's playing through it because he's desperate to get on the roster.

I think he'd do better in a real NBA game because of the spacing.
Give him some time before judging him. A lot of changes for him to adjust to.

He has brute strength when he puts the ball on the floor and shoulders into his defender. Excellent at boxing out too.

Should be a very solid bench big man eventually. Just give him some time.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Regrettably, Zizic's performance in SL has inspired a lot of excuses.

He has some stuff going for him which explains why the organization has him in development and not someone else.

Can't coach "big" can ya?
I've watched a lot of his free throws. Looks like he might be ok there.
His 'euro dunk" is just a little bit 90's for me. Maybe Gerald Green could sign as Zizic's style coach?
I think it would be best if he refrained from dribbling for now.
The three pointer is not in his bag of tricks yet...Stevens will demand he start taking them.

Zizic has desire, he puts in effort, he is big and strong and SL is going at about 346 miles per hour for him right now.

Look closely when Zizic shoots a free throw.  The way he holds the ball in his shooting hand is horrible.  Instead of sitting in his hand on all five fingertips as if his hand is a nest holding an egg, he holds it so that it primarily rests on his middle finger, index, and thumb.  It's almost like he's shooting a dart.

His ring finger and pinky barely touch the ball at all and it comes off his hands sideways.  I would almost prefer Shaq's shooting form because at least his elbow, wrist, and hand were straight (yes I know he had a horrible result as he couldn't snap his wrist and give the ball any rotation).

Zizic, yikes!  That will never work.  He needs to go back to the drawing board.

Looks like I expected him to in summer league where bigs don't show well even with competent summer-league guards, which we don't have. Shockingly for a young big, he has a long way to go defensively.
