A week ago we were all about picking up GH and trading for PG13.  Now we can't get GH without giving up AB,  Crowder, or Smart.  What did I miss?  Aren't those guys what we were going to use to  get PG.

We had to trade people no matter what but i think we could have sent enough of with the PG13 trade. We would have lost a lot more than what we will be forced to now. We don't need that much now and would be even less with a sign and trade.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Yeah, this is not going smoothly.  The Celtics have put themselves in a position where the whole league knows they have horded assets, and do not enough cap room to sign their prized free agent.  They'll be lucky to give away Smart (a #6 overall pick) for nothing.  Worst case scenario they have to add a pick or picks to the deal to get someone to take him/Jae/or Bradley.

2 years ago, everyone knew that the Cavs needed to move Jarret Jack in order to clear up space to sign Lebron James. In a typical NBA move, all 29 opposing teams put their foot down and refused to help. And last year, the Warriors needed to move Bogut for no salary in order to sign Durant. Once again, the whole league refused to make the deal, forcing Durant to sign elsewhere.

Except, actually, neither of those happened. Instead they offloaded their (mostly worthless) players easily because teams will make a deal that helps another team get way better if it makes them a little better instead of a rival getting involved and getting better.  As long as there's more than one team that can help us clear space (and there is), the team's helping us don't have that much leverage. No, we won't get the same price for Smart/Crowder/AB as we would were thus deal not happening, but there's no way we'll have to include an asset with a guy like Smart. That's completely unrealistec.
I'm bitter.

Not sure about the small rock with life inside part,... but yes we are stardust, literally.  All the heavier elements needed for life -- carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, all the metallic elements -- were created in supernovae explosions.  There's no other way to do it.

The two super teams are to blame. If they didn't blow through the playoffs and finals, the NBA wouldn't have had to pay off the TV stations for lack of content. That 80 mill would have stayed in the league and the and would have been at the projected 101 mill instead of 99mill.

So its good that the West got stronger and the CAVS are imploding.

Isn't it the opposite?  If the playoffs had been more competitive, there would have been more games so more TV money, and thus the cap would not have been cut by 2 million.

Not from what I've heard. Part of the TV deal with the NBA was why the cap jumped last year.  Stations make money off of commercial ads. Less games, less ads less money. I don't k ow if the NBA had to pay the 80 mill, but I I heard that was why the cap was short.

NBA shares profits with the TV companies. Less games on TV,less profits. The don't pay the stations to play their games. Stations get the rights to broadcast, and then sell commercial space to companies.

Its why there are so many commercial s during the super bowl. At 4mill a pop even at 25% is a lot of cash in a few hours for the NFL.

Having both PG and Hayward would have been extremely difficult. This was known from the start but ppl refused to listen.

For example:

The situation is not nearly so dire. The Celts are not going to trade Bradley, Crowder or Smart for nothing just to clear space. I'm not going to list the specifics, it's been treated in detail elsewhere, but if all they want to do is clear space there are ways to do that without losing one of those guys. Most notably a sign and trade with Utah that has Rozier going to Utah. If they trade one of the other guys it will because they are getting something they want in return in addition to clearing the cap space they need.

Is it true that we are forced to trade/dump any of Crowder, Bradley or Smart because we are about $300,000 short of cap space?

Durant has agreed to take about $10 mm less. Can't Gordon agree to take $300,000 less?  That way we can make a trade without desperation.

C'mon, Gordon!!
