We all know Tatum is a legit scorer, but can someone explain how he has looked on defense?

I wasn't able to watch the last few games unfortunately.

He seemed out of position quite a bit but summer league defense is a mess...

Still can't believe Danny got a high lotto pick out of that trade down. Even if Fultz is good, we get another potentially elite prospect + tatum. Highway robbery

Paul Pierce 2.0....NOT

More like a young Kobe with his athletic ability. He's a mature basketball player who may end up getting more minutes than Brown. Ainge struck gold with Tatum.
He is not really at all like Kobe athletically. Kobe was a dunk contest champ for a reason. Tatum has been killing it, but he doesn't remind me of young Kobe whatsoever.

Tatum is reminding me a lot of Scottie Pippen.

You must not have seen much of Scottie.  He was a defensive demon and athlete all over the floor.  His offense developed over time.  I am loving Tatum, but he is nowhere near the athletic, long, rangy player Pippen was.

Fultz hasn't been able to finish at the rim in summer league the way he did in college.

Kid has all the tools.

Its summer league I know, but some of those moves are pretty timeless and failsafe. He has a lot of them, and the size to pull them off against bigger NBA bodies.

That turnaround fading jumper at the elbow was like I was watching the truth with a higher release. That move will work just fine in the NBA.

He's going to get scary as he gets stronger.

Looks like he's gonna be really good.  His poise is off the charts at 19 y/o, too.  I'm a big fan of this kid.  What happened to Jaylen tonight?

Tatum is pretty [dang] athletic.

Your right about being rangier though.

Internet says Tatum=203cms, Pippen 221cms (7 inches shorter)

It just feels like as Pippen developed his offensive game, so will Tatum develop his defense, and they might end up similar guys.

At this point in time though, Pierce/TMac seems actually the closest comparison. Some Reggie Miller maybe in there with his slinky moves to the basket.

When did Pierce ever display that move, because I watched almost every game from 04/05 - 12/13 and I cannot once remember seeing it.  That was always one of the things that irritated me about him, along with his handle and no interest in playing any kind of defense until Garnett arrived, that he never developed any semblance of a traditional post up game and yet he's the best scorer in Celtic history? ::) Give me a break.

As for Tatum, I've missed both games, but I have come away thoroughly impressed via highlight tapes ;D so far, and hey, he rebounds, lol ;D. Thankfully, he looks much quicker than he did in college, and while I would have preferred Isaac, it looks like this Blue Devil might not turn out to be a dookie ;), after all ;D.

Also, these highlights of a Bulls Cavs playoff game from Pippen's rookie year are pretty fantastic.

I'm not talking about Pierce's game from the mid-post, I'm talking about that specific left shoulder turnaround/fadeaway jumper, and I honestly don't ever remember seeing him display that move during his time in green that I was fortunate enough to witness.  I'm probably wrong, though, so feel free to find any highlights of him executing said move during that time period, because it obviously exists in the minds of everyone else, lol ;D.

And no, I'm not trolling.
