Question for Salary Cap Gurus: Restructuring Contracts

I have a question for the CBA specialists on the blog.

We saw with Durant accepting less than max money an example of a player (a superstar, even) ensuring his team doesn't take cap casualties to maintain the team's core, allowing Iguodala to resign.

Is there anyone on the Celtics, in theory, who could have a contract restructured or renegotiated to the same effect?  My first thought was IT, but I guess Bradley could apply too.  Crowder would be the perfect candidate but he is only going into year 3 of his deal.

Any thoughts?

Quickest Answer:  not to the extent it would help the Celtics in this scenario.

Existing contracts can only be negotiated upward, never downward. That's only allowable if a team has cap space.

Players can negotiate extensions that include a salary decrease, but that's not really relevant to our current roster.

If Horford wants to help out in a few years, he can opt out of the final year of his contract and sign for a lesser amount, perhaps over more years.
