He signed another player option undervalued contract .. This dude will want to get his pay day and GS wont be able to do it ..

1. In all likely hood they will win another championship and Durant is a competitor so a change would be good for him. Also all the criticism he is getting by going to GSW will eventually blow over.
2. He is somewhat of an injury risk and a secure long contract would attract him.
3, He has great rapport with the Celtics and Stevens and who knows how the the C's were in signing him last year so overall the team will look much stronger by next.
4. He will be the face of the franchise.. IT is no Steph
5. It will most likely encourage IT to take a bit less next in order to win..

Sooooooo pass on Hayward ... While he is a good player he is just not that top 15-20 NBA talent that deserves a max... Plus the Celtics already paid that to another player who is overpaid (Horford)

Durant is not leaving the Warriors next year. Or the year after. Or the year after that. He'll stay there for a while.

And second of all, there are more than 15-20 players in the NBA worthy of a max contract.  This thought that only superstars deserve one is nice in theory, but it has absolutely no grounding in reality. A perennial all star (and near all-NBA player) like Hayward is absolutely worth a max contract. That's why 3 teams are actively trying to give him one this summer (and more would try, too, if they had the ability to)

I just dont see how it is possible with how the salary cap works ... the 2018 cap is projected at 103 mil with the tax line at 125. They would have to trade Klay or Draymond in order to even offer him another reduced salary... I think we are reading too many media reports on this team staying together for 5-6 years... This guy will eventually want to cash in...

If Durant comes to Boston it will be because of GSW ownership's unwillingness to pay luxury/repeater tax. Frankly, this is extremely unlikely. It's much more likely that GS will part ways with Klay and key role players (Livingston/Iggy); Steph, KD and Draymond are just too good to let them go.

From what I understand Durant has put down roots in San Francisco and has connected with a number of business people in the area in preparation for a life after basketball. Plus he's already taken a financial haircut this year to keep their core intact. I couldn't imagine him leaving to go elsewhere (or them letting him walk)  but stranger things have happened.
