Hilarious what the NBA's fan base has become.

NBA has to be the worst league in the United States.

Celtic fans gushing at the chance to win a ring...........in 2023 Lol

Gushing over players who have not only proved nothing, but even if they do , might not even be around during prime years depending on contract and such.

It's a league thing. Fans of every team have gone into this mode. The GM mode. No longer just die hard fans who want to win. Although as I mentioned above the league is trash now, lopsided to the point where every has admitted defeat not only for a season but for multiple seasons and beyond lol.

Bottom line is if we don't get Hayward ( which in my opinion still won't matter ) , we are basically telling IT and Horford , you guys aint winning a ring here as starters at the very least!

The sad truths sometimes have to come out.

I guess I have to look forward to Tatum and Jaylen running the league in 6 years. Maybe then we will also be discussing on trading for a 3rd guy who can help us lol.

At least we can watch this team win 55 games for nothing.

At least from 2008-2012 i felt like this team could win every year.

Now i have to discuss with fans on how Jaylen Brown will be a superstar in 5 years.

I mean, nobody but Golden State is winning anytime soon.

As fans we need to learn to have different priorities.

Why does the whole burden fall on you of discussing why Jaylen will be a star? That doesn't seem right. Get some fireworks for when Gordy commits to the Celts tomorrow.

I disagree.. If we dont land Hayward that is not telling Al and IT that we are not trying to win.. And if that's what AL and IT think they are not the competitors I thought they were..

To Win a chip those guys need to playing about 100 games of out their minds Basketball.. They have to lead this team, the way the splash Brothers lead their team during their first chip.. They have to inspire the guys on the Roster to play above their level as well..  Both of them need to play at a near MVP Level.. They dont need Hayward to do that.

They need to channel their inner Detroit Piston... or their Inner Dwade with a busted up Shaq, or their Inner Dirk when he beat the king..

If they dont win a chip its because IT was too much of a defensive Liability and Al was just.. Well he was just Al.. Really really good but not good enough.
If they dont win its because They Could not Stop Lebron from Dominating them.. Or because they had Zero Answers for KD or K Leonard.

Teams were winning championships before the invention of the Super Team...

The fact that Ainge is trying to land Hayward tells you he is trying to win, not the other way around. Can we at least think sometimes?

If the Celtics don't win a chip, it's because they are not talented enough to compete against LeBron James/Kyrie Irving and Steph Curry/Klay Thompson/Kevin Durant/Draymond Green today.

Really hoping Tatum/Brown blossom in their early careers as they will be the franchise players going forward.

Not really sure what this conversation is about.
Is the league lopsided currently?  Yes.
Will it change?  Yes.
Are the Celtics an enjoyable team to watch?  Yes.
Will they get better?  Yes.

Well talent is talent. Golden State as currently constructed have the game on lock for now. In a business where dynastic championship reigns are coveted more than anything, it doesn't make sense to take things just 1 season at a time, especially when the competition is as thick as it is out West. Looking to 2023 for a championship is simply thinking ahead. It's not as if C's fans want to lose now, but given the circumstances of the league it's just too unlikely.

GSW has 4 of the top 20 or so players in the league. Generously, we might have 1. The only way we beat them is through injuries or Father Time. Making a bad trade or overpaying a free agent won't change that. Throwing all our assets in for one guy, even if that guy is AD, won't change that. Ainge is taking the only reasonable course open to him, trying to acquire the best player available in FA while protecting his young players and picks. That's how you catch CLE and GSW, not by wasting premium assets on a guy dying to get to LA.

I'm only new here, I think this is only my 10th post, but I've been a fan of the Celtics since I  first started watching them as a little kid in 1985 (betraying my age here). Seen the ups and downs over those years. I've been spending more time lurking than posting but wanted to put my 2c in. Sure we want to win but I don't get the whole desperation to sign someone, anyone just for the sake of it. The Celtics are in a strong position, certainly not top tier, but getting there and the worst thing that could happen is to blow it all on a foolhardy chase for mid-tier "stars" that won't add long term value who won't help us win anyway.

Of those mid-tier "stars" I would include Butler (who some seem to think is the second coming of Michael Jordan, after seeing him in the playoffs this year I don't think so), Griffin (who seems to be injured more often than not) and George (who Indiana wanted to hose us for a one year rental for, no thanks). So those players went elsewhere. Sucks but so what? We could argue about the merits of them and I'm sure any of them will make us better but would the cost be worth it in both the short and long term, given the cost that we would have to pay? These are decent players but not ones that we should bet the farm for. Just because other teams are doing deals is absolutely not a good enough reason that we should be doing the same. The talk radio narrative seems to be that the Celtics have to sign someone, anyone, so that we can be reassured that Ainge is actually doing something. If Ainge is sitting on assets he should be dealing the assets to help us win now. But what if there is nobody that is worth dealing the assets for? Additionally, what if people want too much of those assets for what we would get in return?

Doing something for the sake of doing is foolhardy. The Celtics have improved the team significantly in the past few years but it's still short a few pieces to get to Golden State or Cleveland. You're not going to get those pieces in one year. Think how many years it took Golden State to get where they were today. They attracted a top tier FA like Durant because they had already built over years to get to the top tier. The players who are worth betting the farm for, the transcendent ones that will get us to the next level - players like Anthony Davis, Durant,  Westbrook, Antetokounmpo, Harden - those take time to chase if they can be chased at all. Sometimes, like in Durant's case, you bet the farm and the guy goes to Golden State to chase an easy (or easier) ring. That's just the way it goes, I'm sure Danny would have been willing to give up a lot for the guy but he wanted to play with Curry, Draymond and Klay. Or someone like Porzingis who is very promising but no way should we hamstring ourselves in the future by giving up two top 5 draft picks and a couple starters for him as was reported.

Certainly we can criticize Ainge for missing out on some deals that he could have done but doing a deal just to give the talk radio or short-attention-span Boston sports fans something to talk about is not something you want in a team executive whose responsibility it is to ensure continued and sustainable team success over a long period. Had Golden State done that six years ago they wouldn't be where they are today. I  think you do the best deals that are available to you, but a bad deal is worse than no deal IMO. Sometimes doing no deal is the best course available. I think in this case it is.

Just my 2c.

Do you honestly think that the only reason people disagree with your notion of team building and what the team should do is because "nobody wants to win anymore". Come on, dude, you're smarter than that.
I'm bitter.

You are right as far as the NBA being the worst league and it has sadly been that way for awhile now. people are trying to be positive seeing the good things we saw from JB and JT in SL. we are easily 3 years away from winning a title. we may as well accept it. enjoy the ride and development.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

This team won 53 games last year, and all the key players from that squad are back.  We'll see what Danny does to make improvements, but he's definitely "trying to win."

As a fan, personally, I'm all in on winning.  I expect another good season with at least 50 regular season wins and a deep playoff run.  I'll be rooting like crazy to see my squad knock off the Cavs and the Warriors, and I won't count out the Cs until the final buzzer of the final game.

But, realistically and objectively speaking, I give them fairly low odds of winning a title this year (not 0 odds, mind you.  Just "very low").
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I guess it is different watching the Pats win all the time...or Alabama win all the time in college football...or the Pens in hockey.
