Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, but this could be the plan.

It really benefits both teams. Utah gets something pretty good in return.

Boston opens up 15 mil in cap space to sign a big man.

Maybe KO, Thadeus Young

Doesn't this offer more flexibility to fill out the roster?

We'd probably have to give up a pick or two if we asked for Favors?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
It's not a bad idea, but it would just depend on if Danny prefers somebody in free agency over another team's player. Crowder and AB are a pretty good combo going to another team.

With the addition of the late firsts we possess, we could make a run at, say, a player like Paul George  :'(

Favors is a decent option, but he is on the last year of his deal and I really don't know that we want to be the team paying him $20m+ next year and beyond.

With how unimpressive Zizic looked, I do think AB and/or Crowder will be used in a trade for a big man if we do sign Hayward...or at least just to open up space to keep KO.

We could also just use that $15 million in salary to sign and trade for a big man, while also having the option to trade them for an established player or send them out for no returning salary to sign a big outright. I can't see Danny locking into that plan unless he has a big in mind already
I'm bitter.

Don't  believe so Favors may only be a rental and Jazz said they will be looking to make a move if they lose a Hayward. This upgrades SG and replaces Hayward.

I'd rather hold on to Bradley and Crowder and use the cap space on Hayward. There's a bigger window of opportunity to use Bradley and Crowder in a trade than there is to use that cap space, especially with so many free agents off the market now.

Bradley and Crowder don't make enough to trade for Hayward as I'm pretty sure you can't use cap space in a sign and trade

1. I love Bradley as an important piece for the future. I could be ok to sacrifize him in a trade for a star, but not in a S&T.
2. As others have said, Crowder's contract (and even Bradley's) should be kept in case they are used down the road. They are too valuable just to give them away to "keep Utah happy" and try to sign a big man. We can do it afterwards using them, but they are an insurance.

15 million on Kelly are you kidding me?    I have not read that demand is too high for his services why over pay?

It doesn't have to be KO.

JaMychal green
Zach Randolph
James Johnson
Speights
 Patrick Peterson,
Mason Plumlee

Are all still out there

But what if you could sign KO for around 10 mil, and then be able to bring over Yabu. It would definitely upgrade our big man rotation compared to what we have now.

IT.       Rosier
Jaylen.   Smart
Hayward.    Tatum
KO.     Yabu/Theis
Horford.    Zicic

Why would we move AB and Crowder for Hayward when we can sign him outright?

This gives us less flexibility to fix the roster as two valuable pieces would be gone from it. Sign Hayward then use Crowder and AB to bring in other pieces.

We're not gonna get equivalent value for Jae and AB at their salaries.

$15M in this day and age doesn't buy you much.

This allows us to sign KO if we want, otherwise all we could offer him would be a vet min. Also would allow us to bring over Yabu. Maybe adding both KO and Yabu.

So yes it actually does give us more flexibility in some ways.
