If we sign Hayward, does Jordan or Drummond fit?

Could a package of AB, Crowder and a few picks (non brk or LA/sac) land him or Drummond?

And if we could do that, would you want to?

Or do they simply not fit on a Stevens roster?

I don't think either one of them fits on the Celtic's. Neither can shoot and both are useless on the bench at the end of close games cause they can't hit free throws.

What Boston has been building toward is a roster with bigs that you can run offense through.  That would not apply to Jordan or Drummond, to say the least (fwiw, that would also definitely not apply to Zizic). 

So if the Celtics got Jordan, it would require a fundamental change in the offense while he's on the floor.

For the same reason, I'm skeptical that Zizic can ever be a regular rotation player with the Celtics.

Another thing is, Horford can no longer play the 4. Too slow to defend stretch 4s on the perimeter. At this stage of his career he can only play the 5. If we trade for either Jordan or Drummond, Horford will have to play out of position.

Won't happen.  Horford's game is so subtle, I think he is much better than he appears.  Lets see how Jordan does this year.  Scoring isn't his main skill but something like 75% of his points were a result of Chris Paul's passes or putbacks on his misses.  Jordan is pretty much an offensive zero.

Clearly won't happen, I agree.

Jordan gets you scoring off of offensive rebounding (that's been a low priority for Boston). As Oklahoma City showed this year, that's not unworkable in today's league.  But it's definitely not the way the Celtics have gone.

On the other hand, shotblocking and defensive rebounding would be transformed if Boston got Jordan.

I don't know why there are still a lot of people who keep suggesting centers that either cannot stretch the floor on offense or be able to switch to guard fast 3/4s on defense. Those kinds of centers aren't valuable the way the game is played now. Since we want to be one of the best teams, not just an OK team, we can't afford to spend 25% of our cap space on one of the expensive traditional centers out there. It's not to the point where Centers are like relief pitchers but that's the general idea.

I'm not saying it's bad to have a good traditional defensive rebounding center, just that it's really hard to have a good team if you expend too much of your resources in that position and have less money for the other spots.

When you play against the teams going small and the Center is on the bench, that's 20+ million that cannot be on the court. It's just totally wasted.
