I don't know why there are still a lot of people who keep suggesting centers that either cannot stretch the floor on offense or be able to switch to guard fast 3/4s on defense. Those kinds of centers aren't valuable the way the game is played now. Since we want to be one of the best teams, not just an OK team, we can't afford to spend 25% of our cap space on one of the expensive traditional centers out there. It's not to the point where Centers are like relief pitchers but that's the general idea.
I'm not saying it's bad to have a good traditional defensive rebounding center, just that it's really hard to have a good team if you expend too much of your resources in that position and have less money for the other spots.
When you play against the teams going small and the Center is on the bench, that's 20+ million that cannot be on the court. It's just totally wasted.
