  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
If we are getting Hayward, yeah we missed out on George, but if we were going to trade for PG, we can still trade for Love right? Carmelo makes 24.5 million and Love makes just under 22 million. Shouldn't be too hard to swing right?

If Cleveland wants Anthony, and the Knicks want assets, and we want another All Star caliber player...

This seems like something pretty plausible.
Just as a rough scenario:

Knicks get: 2019 Memphis pick, Clippers pick, Jae Crowder, Bradley+Filler.
Cavs get: Carmelo Anthony
Celtics get: Kevin Love

IT
Brown
Hayward
Love
Horford

yay, nay?
Even if we didn't get Hayward, could we sign+trade Jae+Olynyk in a similar scenario?

Would love this deal.
Dont get why the Cavs think that Melo is an upgrade over Love. Love was amazing during the playoffs and finals.

Knicks will demand an LAL pick in return lulz.

But why not go after Porzingis if we're focusing on Love? I'd dump one of our valuable picks for him.

I dont hate this either, but I would guarantee Cleveland would want Bradley also. He would be a huge upgrade over JR Smith on both ends of the court, but especially on the defensive end.
Considering this appears to be the final push for the Cavs, a one year Bradley rental makes a ton of sense.

I like the trade but I don't think the Cavs want to help the Celtics get Love with the East being weakened. The Cavs signed Calderon and Korver...who are old and can't play defense. They obviously feel like the East is a cake walk again.

I like this lineup...but that lineup may beat the Cavs.

Yeah, Cleveland would be better off with Bradley and Crowder than Carmelo... Bradley can defend either of GSW backcourt positions and Crowder would be a very solid bench piece for Cleveland...

Because Phil Jackson is gone and the Knicks have come to their senses, making Porzingis unavailable.

People crap on Love but Anthony will absolutely be a downgrade for the Cavs.

Who knows what GM Lebron thinks though.

yeah as jbpats said above, if the Cavs are giving up Love, they would probably want Avery Bradley too, so JR would have to go to NY instead of Bradley.
That would give them one season of a real shot at beating the Warriors with an upgraded defensive line up and about the same scoring as with Love/Smith there (arguably better scoring and certainly better perimeter D).

Do you think the Cavs are going to do a trade that gets their East rival Celtics Kevin Love?

I don't think so.

That's what I was thinking. Another poster made a good point the Cavs may want AB in that scenario which would make the deal more interesting. NY would want more, maybe more picks which we should get rid of anyway. Not the Nets, LA/Sac picks of course.

Love it. I thought we should have gotten in on it if PG13 was going to Cleveland.

Of course, we might be 17 wins worse:

Seriously, is Love better than Galo, Gay, or whoever else is available?  Probably, Yeah.

If they think it gives them a better shot at beating the Warriors, of course they'd consider it.
Why wouldn't they?
A trade like this arguably gives them a better shot at winning a championship.
It also gives us a significant upgrade at a position of need while we can still use the capspace and some valuable assets.

If they don't look at The Celtics as rivals and are just concentrated on GSW, then they might do that trade. Avery Bradley is exactly the kind of player that the CAVS need to tighten the competition with the Warriors...
