posted this in the other thread but appropriate for all GH discussion today for good feeling quota:

"It comes down to where I can compete for a title," [Hayward] told ESPN.com's Zach Lowe in December. "Where I live—that doesn't affect me. The limelight doesn't matter to me. I just want to make a run at it."

For better or worse, sounds like he already has his mind made up.

Why does it feel like this one is not going to go in Cs direction?

I'm actually more confident today than I was heading into the weekend.

Good to hear.  What has changed for the positive?

I looked at Utah's cap situation after their resigning of Ingles.  In addition to swapping out Hill for Rubio, which is a lateral move at best (and I really like that move for Minnesota), they're going to need to dump at least one and probably two of Favors, Burks, Johnson, and Diaw.  So the version of the Jazz Hayward would return to is a lesser version of last year's good but not good enough team.

And I'd worry about Riley's negative recruiting, but a) Hayward has a pre-existing relationship with Brad, so that's harder to break, and b) the Celtics got to meet with him second, which lets them erase the negative thoughts Riley attempted to plant there.

Makes a lot of sense, and that good enough for me.

Has Hayward seen the crowd at a Heat game in mid Feb? Nobody is there. It is a tomb. Miami fans are poster boys for frontrunners.

I worry most about Riley and his bad mouthing Ainge and the C's. He is a snake. Can't stand him. A liar and an ass.

I imagine @saltlover looking at the Jazz cap situation all like:

Gonna go with Miami. Just not feeling the Boston vibe right now.

That way I can be pleasantly surprised and happy should he choose Boston.

Then why is he considering Miami?  Oh yeah, b/c he can make more money (after taxes) :(

That said, I do think the Celtics have a good shot at getting Hayward.  Hopefully we find out soon!  ;D

CBS has been fostering a continued relationship with Gordon since he left Butler to the NBA. I'd place the odds of him coming at greater than 75% at this stage.

http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/butler/2013/10/25/brad-stevens-leaves-for-the-boston-celtics-the-day-that-rocked-butler-university/3187357/

Stevens had bought the league television package after a former player, Gordon Hayward, was picked ninth overall by the Utah Jazz in the 2010 NBA Draft. Soon enough, he was peppering Hayward with questions.

"He'd call me, and I'd think we were going to have a conversation about Butler or my progress, but a lot of times we'd end up talking about the NBA," Hayward says. "He'd want to know if a certain play would work or if a certain defense would work in the NBA.

"He always told us he could never leave Butler for another college, so that only leaves one place."

My guess is that he stays in Utah because of more money.

I really hope my fellow Celtics fans don't blast Hayward if he chooses Miami. Just because someone picks a city with good weather does not mean they are shallow or don't respect WINNING

Can we all agree the Celtics aren't winning the championship even if we get Hayward? I'm sure Hayward knows that too.

Did Zach Lowe follow up the question with, "Yeah... what about your wife?".

Miami and Utah will not accomplish that for him. Celtics were 7 wins from a banner
