what is his current relationship with the Celtics?

Why did he reject that offer for George at the trading deadline? Is he on bad terms with Boston or did he pass so he could avoid collusion allegations like those made about McHale and the KG deal?

If it is the former than he succumbed to pettiness, if it is the latter then he needs to grow a pair and do the right thing.

Larry Bird is no longer working for the Indiana Pacers. He stepped down from his position in April.

PG is leaving... what needs could the team have that are not addressed by replacing him with a top draft pick from the worst team in the league and two well priced starters on the #1 seeded team in the East.

At the deadline, I think Bird was convinced he could get George to resign.

Bird is currently serving as an adviser for the Pacers, although I'm not sure how official the role is.  It would be cool if he could join tomorrow's pitch to convince another Indiana man about the joys of being a Celtic.

What top draft pick? That wasn't offered, unless you're talking about something that happened at the trade deadline, where needs and wants were completely different than the ones from today.

Yep, TP.  The last thing is the worst.  I could never figure out Bird the GM/president/whatever.  He seemed more against the Celts than the average GM.  Brady, I don't care so much.

Larry worked in the front office from 92-97 before leaving for Indiana. Perhaps Larry wanted a bigger role with the Celtics than he has been offered. Nice to get some insight into the back story here if there is any that is.

Larry gave me the best basketball memories of my life.  I loved every second of the big three. I don't care if it's an emotional response. You'll get over it.  He can do no wrong by me.
The same goes for Bobby Orr and Big Papi.
