  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I don't see Crowder being traded to be traded. Danny seems to love the guy. I also feel like we miss on Hayward...which means nothing changes with the overall roster for the better

Boston would just need to commit to building through the draft and waiting out the current arms race. Looking at 2021 in reality to win they could actually have all these young guys be really impactful and stars themselves

I don't trust Ainge building through the draft. For one, his draft record leaves a lot to be desired. And two, we get hyped up for the chance to win the lottery just so Ainge can trade it away

Of course we wont find the answer until we see it, bur if Danny is indeed builsing thru the draft, then why sis he trade the #1 pick?

Does he really think that Tatum or Jackson = Fultz?

I thought that grabbing more assets is for us to have ammo for trades? Bow we are building thru the draft?

I think it's time for Crowder to go, preferably in a deal that brings back a big man. Especially if we get Hayward, but even if we don't -- Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are the C's best hopes at a homegrown (Paul George-like) star, they're both best at the 3, and they need minutes.

Sure, Crowder can play occasional minutes at the 4 in a small-ball lineup, but he doesn't have the size or rebounding ability to play there consistently. And face it, he's not going to like giving up minutes to Hayward, Brown or Tatum.

It would be really hard for him to screw up the 2018 draft with 2 top 5 picks. The guys are the top (Porter, Doncic, Ayton and Bamba) are all pretty easy to take

Fultz was the consensus #1 pick and somehow it wasn't pretty easy for Ainge to pick him.

And people are already assuming we're getting 2 top 5 picks. There's a chance we don't get the LAL pick. Sheesh, at this rate it could end up being #1 and Philly gets to keep it.

I want Brown and Tatum to get a lot of minutes. I want Yabu to decent minutes. Let's evolve and give these guys room to grow.

yes and yes... I'm not sold on Yabu yet

he is a beast but is not "quick" enough on the floor... not in terms of physical quickness but the mental quickness is mediocre

I think you have to sign Hayward then trade AB or Crowder.

I'd trade AB because he can't guard Kyrie,  he's always hurt, and Crowder can help guard Lebron.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Well if we sign Hayward one of Kelly (renounced), Crowder traded (plus smaller pieces), or Bradley traded is required to get the max cap space.  So if you renounce Kelly,  and trade Crowder by himself along with possibly picks it makes it tough because his salary is low.  Maybe someone like Favors but there won't be a ton of options. You could trade Crowder for a future pick to clear cap space, and keep and start Kelly.  Maybe Kelly would play better in the starting lineup, and be less inconsistent. Who knows.  You could just renounce Kelly and start Crowder as a small ball 4.  You could trade Bradley, my least favorite option, and start Hayward at the 2 alongside Crowder and Kelly.

If we miss out on Hayward I don't think it's the end of the world.  You could either work towards extending Thomas and Bradley, or even Smart for that matter.  Or you could use that cap space to upgrade the Amir, Tyler, Jonas group. Maybe split the cap space between a small ball 4 like Gallinari or Gay and a big like Randolph. Even then we would still be in the mix for ECF, and Lebron will be another year older.  Especially if 1 or 2 young players break out like Brown.

Big picture if Ainge plays his cards right we could arguably have the best young core 3 or 4 years down the road (with a few other teams in the mix like Philly, Wolves, Bucks), as many of these stars now on the best teams enter their 30s, and on the decline.

Actually if we renounce Kelly, we don't need to move anyone else to retain max cap space.  This is because by trading down to 3, the cap hold for Tatum is about 2-3m less than it would have been for Fultz.  So it all depends on if Hayward wants to sign.

I would not move Crowder unless it's in a package for an upgrade somewhere else.  For example if we can land Porzingis, etc.

I agree. If you cannot get Hayward...stop chasing unicorns and develop Zizic, Tatum, Brown and Yabu. That is your young core

strong analysis, considering he's tried to trade him repeatedly for other / better small forwards over the last year.

Really? Because reports many times when trying to acquire Butler or George was he was untouchable. This was the first time I heard his name in real talks

Untouchable for Butler or George? Show me one.

Total nonsense.
