Obviously we're in communication with Hayward, we have an idea of what he wants what he doesn't want. George, Hayward, Crowder Brown, and Tatum even if Crowders out of the mix that's just way too many quality wings. Hayward wants the ball in his hands George would have hurt that for sure Thomas needs the ball too.

Hayward is still on his way to Boston, let's steer the course, the only free agent that made sense last year was Horford and we got Horford.  Kevin Durant was the pipe dream last year, just like Paul George was the pipe dream  year.

Haywood Tatum and brown will be improving the Celtics over the next four years that was the plan and it's still the plan no make it happen Dan.

Can't get any better than a Boston team that was 7 wins away from a banner

Yep and to include Tatum who hasn't played a game as a quality wing is a tad premature.  Even Brown is no real competition for minutes for someone like Hayward
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I expect Hayward's family to have a huge impact on where he goes...

To be fair, there were reports from several Indy writers that Hayward was in fact hesitant about playing with George. And all of the reports that did talk favorably about the pairing were from George's camp liking the idea of playing with Hayward.

But who knows. I think it has more to do with Danny being cheap and not wanting to put too much into a possible one year rental.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

EDIT: Nevermind - back on the Fire Joe Train!

That may be true, but that could go for or against all three teams chasing him.

If he knows George is gone anyway what's the point? The team has a 3% chance tops of beating the Golden State Warriors and then George is gone so rather just develop chemistry with the guys that will be there.

If the Celtics don't land Hayward, this offseason was a complete and utter failure.

No Hayward, no George, no Griffin, no Fultz.

Oh what could have been.

3% tops? So under no circumstances would you up that to 4%?

This wasn't Ainge being cheap, it's common sense.

Indy got a cheeseburger for PG. There was no market for him. No one was going to give much for a guy who everyone knows is bolting to LA in 12 months.

Oh yeah? How could you possibly have any inclination of this. You say this like Hayward has 3 kids in highschool and his wife is on the PTA and his whole family is begging him to stay in Utah.

No... Haywards kids are like 3 and 1 and his wife stays at home with them.... you think she cares what city she has to babysit in? I highly doubt she gives a crap...she married a hundred million dollar man just 5 months after she graduated highschool.  She's along for the ride my friend.

Hayward will likely be the sole important contributor to this decision. I can't imagine his wife actually saying anything other then "Honey, I'm here to support you and whatever city you want to play basketball in".... do you really think she says "Please stay in Utah I love it here, I don't care if the Celtics are just a couple games away from the NBA Finals and you love your old coach, I LOVE UTAH".

Can anyone even name the last time someone didn't go to a better team because they liked their house a lot?

I was actually thinking about this one day. Like, what if the fact Ainge is looking to stack his roster is something that would turn Hayward away? He seems like the kind of guy that would want to compete on a low key team that still has a contending chance. Thats why I think him going back to the Jazz is still a real possibility, but I think the Celtics being a low key contender in the East while the West gets stronger puts us in the driver seat.

Actually his wife does not want to stay in Utah...she prefers Miami
