What am I missing?

Seems like every time we are in contention for a player, that player gets traded for much less than one would have thought.  Cousins, butler, and George go for packages we could have easily beat.  So either:

1.  Ainge is completely unable to pull the trigger
2.  Teams are asking for too much, but only from us
3.  Teams are taking lesser deals just to spite us
4.  Ainge is trying too hard to fleece teams

Teams are asking for more because he has more assets and they don't want to look like they got fleeced.

We were in "significant" talks for PG last week. Can't help but think we could've closed the deal if we were willing. But Danny thinks GMs are gonna line up to be the next Billy King for him and they're not.

Still can't believe we gave up the chance at Markelle Fultz for this.

Goodman is reporting the Celtics offered 3 #1s and 2 starters on draft night.

None of the picks were lottery picks.

Ainge is making good offers, he's just not giving up premium picks.

Guys we couldn't deal for George first and then sign Hayward.  We were always taking more money back in a George deal.  What was Danny supposed to do.

I think its a dispute over our players value.  Everyone wants the picks.  Crowder, smart, Bradley,  not so much of an incentive.

Worth noting that this was not just us. Indy also prefers this offer to Kevin Love according to reports.

I've also seen in reported that Pritchard wanted PG out of the East. That makes more sense than "spitting" Danny or demanding more due to our asset wealth.

I think it's just #2.

1) Ainge has shown the propensity to make all kinds of trades.

3) I can't believe GM's would deliberately take lesser deals out of spite. Ownership couldn't possibly co-sign that.

4) Is certainly a possibility but it sort of ties into #2. Teams would probably feel "fleeced" if they don't make out with a least half the assets the Celtics have been able to acquire so Ainge doesn't feel the need to overpay.

If those reports are true and Pritchard truely took a lesser deal just to move PG out of the east then he has no business being the GM of an NBA team.
