Recent article on RealGM reports that Brown, Tatum, Nets and Lakers' picks have yet to be on the table for a Paul George trade.

It looks like Danny is more hesitant than I thought about our grade A assets.  I guess it makes sense since George is most likely a rental.

This was not stated in the article, but it seems like the rumors about George thinking about signing long-term or being intrigued about playing with Hayward are coming from the Pacers.  Not to mention all the other talks about the Cavs, Rockets, etc. making offers or being interested in George.  I believe most of it is made up to make the Celtics pay up.  So far, it looks like Danny does not want to.

How is it stingy vs greed by Pritchard

Ainge cant give up too much for a potential 1 year rental

Or forget it

Under no circumstances should Brown, Tatum, or the Nets pick be offered in talks for Paul George.

No way.

The Lakers / Kings pick ... OK.  Any of the other picks.  OK.  Any of the other young guys ... Rozier, Jackson, Yabu, Zizic, etc.  OK.

Bradley, Crowder.  OK.  Smart ... sure.

I'm not suggesting Ainge offer all of the above, but Indiana can take their pick and there can be a discussion of what goes in the deal.

But Brown, Tatum, Nets pick ... untouchable in this deal.

I agree.  Trust me, I'm team "don't give up prime assets for Paul George" too.

Just playing devil's advocate.

I am a little worried because Washington is willing to do a sign & trade for PG13 with Otto Porter. That is a good young player that if I am Indiana have to seriously think about. Also, if Washington gets PG13 I think they may jump ahead of us in the East depending on what we do on do not do.

Yes, but Porter has to be willing to do a S&T as well, and Indiana has to be willing to pay him a max contract.  Neither of those are guarantees.  Not to mention, Indiana has the cap room to just sign Porter to a max deal -- if they actually do want him at that price, and he is willing to go there, they don't need to do a S&T.

Exactly. Danny isn't gonna start offering good assets (well, the Lakers pick) until the Pacers start being reasonable. If/when Hayward signs here, both sides should start to move toward an actual deal. Until then, Danny shouldn't weaken his position by being the first to cave

I think its funny that writers or reporters think they know what teams are offering. I don't think that Danny Ainge wants other teams to know what he is offering George, in case a deal falls through and he has to structure a trade for another player.

I've read many posts on here about 4+ first rounders for Justise Winslow, etc. etc. Can't we just admit that we don't know what is being offered for PG13?
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Can't WASH offer porter an extra year and a couple more million $ per?

Only if they keep him, not in a S&T, and not if they're matching offer sheets.  If he goes to Indiana on a max, it'll be the same whether they sign him outright or via a S&T.

From what I saw of the original reports, Ainge said he wouldn't give up prime draft assets unless he got some assurance from George that he would extend. He didn't say he was unwilling to trade prime draft assets for him. That is misleading.

So how can he get assurance? Well, George is reported as saying he would extend with any of the contending teams he was dealt to, including Celtics and Cavs. So they have to see how serious he is. Which is the probably first thing they will do when free agency starts.

The other factor is Hayward. The case for George or Hayward gets stronger for the other if one commits first. That could be Hayward or George. Each can impact the other. We'll see how this develops the next couple of days.

Why are we devaluing the Lakers pick next year? If we get it, it would be a top 5 pick. It could be Doncic, or Bamba, or Ayton, or maybe Porter jr. how is that worth a most likely one year rental? We don't beat GS and Cleveland is 50-50.
2016 CelticsBlog Draft: Washington Wizards

PG: Darren Collison / Elfrid Payton / Tim Frazier
SG: Avery Bradley / Seth Curry
SF: Jae Crowder / Shaun Kilpatrick / Marcus Thornton
PF: LeBron James / Derrick Williams / JJ Hickson
C: Jusuf Nurkic / Meyers Leonard / Nikola Pekovic

The only real difference between the Nets pick and the Lakers pick is the former is unprotected and the latter is #1 protected.

The Nets probably will have a better chance of finishing lower than the Lakers or the Kings, but it's a lottery and you never know. The chances of drawing #1 are pretty low. The Celtics lucked out this year, even on most favorable terms.

No one is devaluing that pick.  But vs. the Nets 2018, currently that is one you can part with.

I would prefer to hang on to both.  Indiana has no leverage here.
