I would but its a business. IT sells tickets and helps team get to the playoffs which equals $. These owners have been killing it $ wise the last three years. I don't see them dealing IT. Their best chance of it was if they drafted Fultz. That shipped sailed imo. IT is the face of the franchise.

Yes. But Celtics would still make the playoffs without IT4

Also dont forget signing IT4 to a max or near max, handicaps your cap space ... Could mean no AB, Smart next season , little flexibility
I don't think they make it if the bottom teams improve while we lose out main offensive threat. How many games do you think we win with out IT last year if its 40 or less we would have missed it. This year will be harder.
As far as flexibility to sign guys AB isnt worth resigning he will command too much. With Smart who knows how this season will go.

I don't see IT being moved.

The east becomes harder?  This is the theme every offseason ...  I dont buy it. Bc while the 76ers should improve, the Pacere will stink without pg13. Magic , pistons , nets knicks... Wont be good I predict

And you are saying keep IT4 instead of AB and Smart? If it came down to it.... I disagree. Who is going to play defense?

You keep Isaiah, and one of Smart/AB. Smart should be a lot cheaper.

Avery is likely getting a near max or even max contract.

Surprised if this happens

20 million a year at most. Which team can you see pony up 30 million for AB?

The Knicks or the Nets

So AB signs with either of these teams... Has to work extra hard on defense...just to live on the IR?

I think both parties will see this and there wont be a marriage.... If AB was a key piece to the puzzle .... For example the 76ers... But he still wont get max from them

I voted yes, but I wouldn't just sell him off for peanuts on the dollar.  I think it would require a real piece.  If Phoenix lands Griffin (or maybe even if they don't), I would certainly be interested in flipping Thomas for Bledsoe and Jackson/Chriss/Bender.  Maybe Denver wants to make a move and offers Mudiay, Hernangomez, and a 1st.  Maybe Miami wants to go with Dragic and Thomas together again and gives up Winslow, Richardson, T. Johnson, and a 1st.

I mean there are trades that would make sense in the Boston strikes out scenario.  I think Boston still probably makes the playoffs, but the pick would certainly be higher, giving Boston the possibility of 3 or 4 picks next draft (depending on what it gets back).  That would also open the playing time for Smart and Rozier to see if they can really lead a team and would also like lead to unlimited minutes for Brown and Tatum which would help their development.  Perhaps KO is back in that scenario as well.

I think that might also create a situation where Horford tells the team he wants to be traded, which would provide even more potential assets and could create a full on tank (where Bradley is then also moved).

I would have to buy new pants if that happened.

Pass. There's no way we'd get anything of value for him.

Site is more frustrating than ever this morning. Wait, there's breaking news! The Celtics are trading Bradley, Crowder and Smart for Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

This alone would be a great get for IT who's about to be an expiring. I wouldn't even mind if we don't get the rest of the guys you mentioned.

Unfortunately, this is something we really need to look at. If we miss out on key FA's, we really have to consider trading Isaiah, and try to just start again. We will have key blocks in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, so it shouldn't be that bad.

I'm more wondering about IT's health for next year specifically, never mind the next 2 or 3 years. The fact is we're not hearing anything about his hip problems. (Many feel he should have undergone surgery.)

I'm just wondering what a cautious IT would play like. An IT that realizes he's not indestructible, and maybe should more control the abandon to the hoop that brought him to where he is. In the estimation of some, that would be an IT on the down turn of his value.

Throw-in the fact that he'll be a free agent at the end of next year.

Should've drafted Fultz if you're gonna sell IT4.

So no Hayward, no trade for PG13. No other worthwhile FAs to sign

Would you trade IT4 for picks.  And concentrate on building towards the future? (3 years wait). With Horford leading the way

Seriously, what is wrong with you?  Free agency hasn't even happened yet.  It's not like we are 1 week into free agency and nobody got signed!  Get a grip dude!

Why would you trade your best player on a team coming off of a ECF Finals while having two top 3 picks to develop and 2 potential top 5 future picks to develop.  IT is the type of player any team would want but would not give up insane value for because of his size and he has 1 year left and the team that would get him would need to pony up.  He's fine right where he is.  If the C's don't get a big FA I think they will extend a current player to lower the cap hit for next year and future years.  Might as well use the cap space for something.

So you would give IT4 max? And be the Buffalo Bills of the east?

Dont forget while IT4 is here, not only is AB and possibly Smart bye byes. Young gems like Brown, Tatum have less opportunity to develop

Your argument makes ZERO sense.  Last time I checked Brown and Tatum didn't play PG.  So keeping or losing IT has nothing to do with their development or opportunities.  Now if we sign a free agent like Hayward that might affect their playing time.  But that would be on HAYWARD not on IT4.  Please do not smoke, drink, take drugs, and post at the same time,  Drugs are bad, Mmmkay?
