So no Hayward, no trade for PG13. No other worthwhile FAs to sign

Would you trade IT4 for picks.  And concentrate on building towards the future? (3 years wait). With Horford leading the way

I would but its a business. IT sells tickets and helps team get to the playoffs which equals $. These owners have been killing it $ wise the last three years. I don't see them dealing IT. Their best chance of it was if they drafted Fultz. That shipped sailed imo. IT is the face of the franchise.

Yes. But Celtics would still make the playoffs without IT4

Also dont forget signing IT4 to a max or near max, handicaps your cap space ... Could mean no AB, Smart next season , little flexibility

I highly doubt it.

Besides Isaiah, who do you have that can put up 22+ PPG on a consistent basis?

Are you telling me Horford, Smart and AB can do that all season, and when you need buckets in crunch time, they'll come through most of the time? Doubt it.

Without Isaiah they are a 7 seed at best, but more likely looking outside.

6th-7th seed sounds about right...you dont think Brown would progress? Also Tatum should provide some consistent scoring

You can also sign Waiters to a cheap 2-3 year deal. To help bridge the team for the future

IT just got the NBA Community Service award, right? Bad move to dump him right now.

How can Al Horford "lead the way" to the future of a team that would need 3 years to get better?  He will be 35 by then.  He didn't come here to wait 5 years for a ring.

I don't think they make it if the bottom teams improve while we lose out main offensive threat. How many games do you think we win with out IT last year if its 40 or less we would have missed it. This year will be harder.
As far as flexibility to sign guys AB isnt worth resigning he will command too much. With Smart who knows how this season will go.

I don't see IT being moved.

Yes. But his 30 million per year should make things less painful. After a season or two. He can be traded as well or stick with a champiship ready team (hopefully)

Horford strikes me as someone who could opt out and stay for less money in a few years IF this team is legitimately contending by then (like actually talking Finals - not just ECF appearance).

This only made sense if we drafted Fultz or Ball. No sense as constructed.

See my proposal to trade IT for Westbrook, but only if we sign Hayward, but not George, on another thread.

The east becomes harder?  This is the theme every offseason ...  I dont buy it. Bc while the 76ers should improve, the Pacere will stink without pg13. Magic , pistons , nets knicks... Wont be good I predict

And you are saying keep IT4 instead of AB and Smart? If it came down to it.... I disagree. Who is going to play defense?

Unless Brown and Tatum becoming legitimate scoring threats next season, this team doesn't have any besides IT. That was a problem last season, hence the reason a need for a #2 scorer was needed.

Also Waiters will get payed a lot this offseason, probably by Miami. And it's likely a 3-4 year deal, so...

You keep Isaiah, and one of Smart/AB. Smart should be a lot cheaper.

Avery is likely getting a near max or even max contract.

Surprised if this happens

20 million a year at most. Which team can you see pony up 30 million for AB?
