so confirmed George will sign extension if we can grab Hayward? July 1st cannot come quick enough!

No, we cannot get Hayward and extend George.  There is not enough money.  It's one or the other (or neither.)
Why? I thought is a trade for George this year still cap space to sign Hayward, extension is after this year.
The only way they can get an extension now for PG is to bump his salary $10 million up to the max. So adding PG wouldn't be a cap neutral move, as it would be if we traded AB & filler or whatever without an extension.

The moves Kaufman is talking about would leave us way over the cap. I can't envision how they can possibly make it work without moving Horford. We'd have to ship out and waive everything that isn't tied down.
Perhaps we are trading for George without an extension.
Going for the championship now.
IT, Brown, Hayward, George, and Horford.
We're giving up the potential #2-5 pick for one year of PG?

I can't believe Ainge would be that stupid.
House money. Betting that he'd want to stay after getting to the NBA finals with that team. Which is a decent bet.

The potential #2 pick isn't just "house money". It's throwing away an incredible asset for a slim chance at a title. You cannot give up anything significant for PG unless you get an extension. Monumentally stupid to do so.

I read something similar days ago about him needing to make a move asap for financial reasons, makes all the sense in the world!

Slim chance? I think it's more than that.
Plus, if you can sign PG to an extension, it's is well worth it.

How exactly is Boston going to sign Hayward and then create 10.2 more million in cap space?

If we trade for him doesn't he become our guy where we have his Bird rights?

TP. I was going to ask the same. Do we not "inherit" George's Bird Rights so that we can extend thim?

Thanks in advance and sorry if the question has already been answered.

His Bird rights only matter if we're resigning him as  a FA. They do not allow us to go over the cap for a contract renegotiation or allow us to increase his salary to the max (through an extension) without a renegotiation. His Bird Rights would be important because they'd allow us to gI've him more money in FA, but they do nothing for us extension-wise
I'm bitter.

If we have george and Hayward,  do we still have our mle?

Just hoping we can sign a title chasing big on the cheap.

No. If we sign any free agent using cap space (aka if we sign a max player), we need to renounce the MLE and Bi-annual exception. We would instead have the room exception, which is ~$4 million (vs. ~$8 million for the full MLE)

So what is Ainge's most likely path to secure both?
PG trade+extend first or sign Hayward?
Who will have to go out to get this done?

Appreciate the education.

Read that last line again. One more time.

Guys, let the PG13 fantacy go. Let it go...

Not going to happen...

A. Paul George will be traded.

B. His proclamation that he will take it to FA scares off 90% of deals.

C, The Lakers lack the assets to trade for him unless they finally put Ingram on the table.

D. A Paul George led Cetics is the undisputed 3rd best team in the league. Great for his legacy and sponships.

We'll stop dreaming when we are no longer the most logical destination.

Tommy point! I'd go so far as to say that Paul George is more likely to be on the Celtics than Gordon Hayward.

Most likely is that it doesn't get done. It's possible that we sign Hayward and trade for George, but he'd be stupid to agree to an extension. Best case would probably be him agreeing to pick up his option for next year (since signing a max after playing for his low option salary would lose him less money than agreeing to an extension), but it makes the most sense for him to become a free agent next year.
