Holy hell, it just now hit me - this is all a prelude to Lebron, Wade, Melo, and Paul joining in LA next season.

Wade opts in this year, meaning he'll be a cheap, ring-chasing vet next year;

Melo has a player option for 2018-2018, meaning he'll also be a cheap, ring-chasing vet next year;

Lebron is a free agent next year and is already rumored to be heading to LA;

Paul becomes the "Wade" of this team and secures his long-term deal this offseason with the Clippers.

Yeah, I think Danny needs to make a strong move for Porzingis now. We'll need a counter to Embiid/Simmons in the future anyways, and Porzingis would be about as good of a fit to do that as anyone.

Lol that team is NOT winning anything still. Not worried.

Maybe if Wade-CP3-Melo were all 5 years younger, sure.

Clippers or Lakers would be dumb to try that. But Clippers might be desperate and give it a shot. I'd love to see LBJ NOT go to the Lakers though  ;D

Sounds like complete bull****

Why do you say that? With all of the rumors spinning of Lebron leaving, the "banana boat" foursome rumors, and now the firing of Griffin/them telling Butler to stay/Kyrie rumored to be open to a trade next year, it all seems predestined at this point.

And it makes some sense. This Cavs squad doesn't have the assets it needs to improve enough to beat GS, so Lebron might as well go play with his buddies in LA. That team probably has just as much of a chance to beat GS as this Cavs team, but I don't think it'd be about that anymore. I think Lebron just wants to play with his friends at the end of his career realizing that A) he'll probably never catch Jordan with his lackluster Finals records and only three rings and B) his legacy as an all-time great is already sealed.
You really think cavs players called up a top-15 player in the league and said "don't come here"?

It's ridiculous

Yes? If they have no intention of staying there next year, Lebron specifically, it'd be pretty crappy of them to push for a Butler trade then leave him high and dry in cleveland. All of these guys are friends for the most part these days, and they don't want to screw each other over.
Nah it's BS from a BS source. Youre just tryna will it into truth.

Fast forward to Cleveland Fall 2018.  It could be bad.  Very bad.

Danny should help facilitate a trade for a future Cleveland pick ! :o

Whatever, brah, not sure why you're getting all riled up over this.

I don't know about the credibility of this particular reporter, but he works for the Chicago Sun-Times, so it makes sense why he'd know or hear this.

The only rebuttal so far has come from a Cavs team source, which isn't really an objective source to trust, because of course they're going to deny it. So, again, not sure why you're so up in arms about this being fake news, especially given the fact that you could make this same claim about pretty much every rumor that has come out the last several days that hasn't come to fruition.

All joking aside, though... How would you feel if you were Kevin Love at this point? You've got the whole team, it would seem, lobbying for you to be traded away.

Plus, how much say does Butler even have in the matter, it's not like he's a free agent or demanding a trade (at least publicly) or has to waive a no trade clause.

Plus Butler's contract matches up perfectly with Love and Irving's (they all have a player option in '19-'20).

Surely LeBron is aware of Father Time chasing him down, you think he's going to punt on this season because Butler would have to stay in Cleveland (with Irving and Love) one year after LeBron leaves?

And even if the rest of the players think LeBron is leaving, you think they'd all want to punt on maybe their last chance to win a championship?

It's one thing if we're in the old days where 7 year contracts was the norm and Butler was a free agent thinking about signing in Cleveland.  But that's just not the case, and Butler has no choice in the matter anyway.

This whole notion just doesn't make sense to me.

If anybody told him not come, I would guess it's someone who doesn't want their minutes taken or doesn't want to be shipped off to Chicago.

Sounds more like you're the one that doesn't want it to be true, regardless of the facts and what's actually being reported. I mean, this goes right along with the numerous other credible reports that Lebron is a legitimate flight risk next year. Not sure why we should just ignore this one for no real reason.

The equally credible amico just denied it. Jimmy butler isn't a free agent so he doesn't get to choosr.

So why, again, would a cavs player tell jimmy to stay away when it has no discernible benefit for them OR Butler.
