And I want a billion dollars...

Its crazy how players that once pitted against each other, are no longer interested in trying to play for their respective franchises, because they look at GSW, and see that their team is unbeatable.

I just added another reason to the list of why I don't want Butler on our Cs.

Butler would help their perimeter D, but they would lose Love's rebounding. And if Bron Bron bolts for LaLa Land next year, I wonder how much Jimmy will want to be in Cleveland then?

Or maybe Jimmy then joins Los Angeles with LBJ, and maybe George...  :o (I don't know how that works cap-wise LOL)

Funny how that air of invincibility makes people react.

An image that sticks in my mind is that wimp Durant crying after the Finals a few years ago because he and his Thunder got their ass handed to them by Bron Bron and the collusion-formed cHeat. The look on his face was like "no one is ever going to beat these guys!!"

I am convinced to this day that that sentiment is what drove the weak-minded Durant to the Warriors. Can't beat Bron Bron, can't bet the Dubs, might as well join one of them.

Why do the Cavs think Butler will be such an upgrade over Love? Butler will decrease their spacing and their rebounding. He also needs the ball in his hands as much as Kyrie or Lebron, and the game is still played with only one ball

Of course he does.  These guys hate to compete.  Looking less like a trade is coming, though I'd prefer Zinger to him or PG.  I'd be cool with Tatum though.  Or, we could wait 2 years for Jackson to add enough size to be able to defend and not develop a jump shot, but do so explosively.

Might be a panic move in order to get a premier wing defender, after being so thoroughly smacked by the Warriors' wings.

I agree though, the loss in rebounding and floor spacing would outweigh whatever Butler would bring to Cleveland.

The inmates are starting to run the asylum.  A few "super-teams" will be the norm and 25 other teams will suffer.  As annoyed as I was about Durant's decision, he actually did what is allowed.  Now players under contract (LeBron, George, Butler) are becoming the GMs.  The only reason they can is because there would be no league without good players, so they hold all the power.

NBA is on its downside as parity disappears.  Pete Rozelle was right.

All the Cavs care about is Golden State, and Butler is a better fit against Golden State than Love is.  The reality is the Cavs had too many players they had to try and hide on defense and they just can't do that against the Warriors.  You add in a 2 way player, like Butler or George, you have to hide 1 less player, you put a better defender on Durant a lot more often, and you force Durant to work a lot more defensively (which in turn should diminish his offense even more).  All of that gives Cleveland a better shot against Golden State.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I disagree. One of Cleveland's best scoring options was to put KLove on KD's defense. Even LBJ had problems with KD's length. Butler just makes it easier for the Warriors to switch everything even more now.

Butler is a really good player but he doesn't make us title contenders.
