...I mean ok, so Danny doesn't want Fultz at 1.

But we pick Fultz at one and trade him on draft night.

There's no guarantee that the Lakers take Ball at 2...what if they take Jackson.

C's lose out on who they really want AND Fultz.

I don't see Danny taking Ball at 3...the Jason Kidd clone is a bit over-rated IMO.

Danny better not trade down again....this is already a HUGE mistake.

Like passing on MJ for Sam Bowie mistake.

Trading down again and you run the risk of losing out on Fultz, Jackson, Tatum, and Fox....

You get a top pick you better use it.

He is not fixed on taking Jackson.  In that YouTube interview he basically said there are several guys he likes and it just depends on who Philly and LA take. I interpret that as Jackson OR Tatum OR Isaac, but not Fox or Ball.

The best theory I've heard on timing is that another deal is coming on or before draft night.

He knows what he does. I think (and hope) he really likes Tatum. Tatum never had a workout with the lakers... They prefers ball or jackson. Though i really don't know i trust danny

This could be move one. He may have a move or two between now and then. He's going to try to make the move he really wants to on draft night when teams get mental and he can get what he's really going after.

:o :o :o

Anyway, I guess Ainge wants to draft either Tatum or Isaac (both of whom are gonna be available at #3), hence we decided there would be no point in waiting till draft night.

Don't agree with that logic, but that's my best guess.

Since there's talk of trading with Sacramento to get the 5 and 10 picks it makes sense to do the first trade early to give the second trade time to develop.

Yeh, this was my question too.  I don't necessarily have a strong opinion one way or the other about the deal, but I don't see the benefit of doing it before the draft.  Having the benefit of seeing who was taken at #2 would have to be of some use if your objective is to attain a certain player at #3.
Yup

Right, but Ainge doesn't have a certain player in mind.  He will take Jackson, Tatum or Isaac, not Fox or Ball.  Under these circumstances, why not move  ahead and possibly create some time for another deal to develop?

He is getting the player he wants in this year's Draft even if he has to lose pick number 1. He is not sold on Fultz but I guess he would still pick him if he drops to number 3.

At any rate, he gets to draft this year a top 3 player (Fultz, Tatum, Jackson or even Ball) and he got another lottery pick for next year or the year after that. The opportunity for the extra pick ( potentially a lottery player) came at the most opportune time. So, he pulled the trigger.

Danny might even take Ball and package him with some of the current ones for a possible big trade with any team that has the player he wants to acquire. He could trade them for Clipper Blake. CP3 is rumored to leave LAC this summer so Ball could be their LA guy in the future.

Perhaps Ainge doesn't care who's available because he doesn't expect that player to ever be a Celtic.

Danny is waiting to see who the fakers take at 2.
If the fakers take Ball, then Danny will trade down to 5 & 10 from Sac.
If they select Jackson then Danny will take Issac at 3.

I think Issac is the Pick but would be happy with Tatum or Jackson.

Also remember Danny is trying for max salary. So getting Issac at 5 saves money
