Minor Change on Fultz Trade Announced

Celtics just announced that if the Lakers pick doesn't convey next year (isn't 2-5) we get the BETTER of the Kings and Sixers picks in 2019.

Most people expect the Sixers to be improved in two years but this gives us another set of Ping-Pong chances if they're still a lottery team. Nice added wrinkle to the overall package.

That is a nice little bonus indeed. I doubt Philly will be a deep lotto team by that stage, but a chance is still a chance.

Looks like comments on the tweet are saying if either pick gets #1 we get the lesser of the two, which actually brings it right back down for me

yes, nice addition. philly will probably be better than sac, but who knows? embiid might again be on crutches. simmons other foot might break. fultz' knee might explode.

it doesnt hurt to now have a third team to cheer onto a crappy season.

If Embiid doesn't pan out you are talking about really really young guys like Simmons and Fultz for the time being. If they are successfully able to get more veterans that changes things. However, it seems like they are trying to get someone like KCP to grow along with their youth.

See above, unfortunately it means we can't get the #1 in 2019 either. It does help our chances at getting #2 or 3, or some other higher lotto slots if Philly is somehow still worse than Sacramento in 2019.

I was assuming the best for Embiid. I also believe that Fultz, Simmons and Saric will gel really nicely.

But hopefully they collapse

The future first-round pick that Boston will receive will be the Los Angeles Lakers' first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, provided that such pick is No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, or No. 5 in the 2018 NBA Draft. If the Lakers' 2018 first-round pick is No. 1 or is No. 6 or later, the Sixers will instead convey to the Celtics the rights to the more favorable of the Sixers' own 2019 first-round pick or the Sacramento Kings' 2019 first-round pick, provided that the more favorable pick is not the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. If the more favorable of the Sixers' and Kings' 2019 first-round picks is the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the Sixers will instead convey the rights to the less favorable of those two picks.

What part makes this better?

If SAC get's the #1 pick, we get the PHI 1st rounder.  We could get a mid-first rounder if Philly makes the playoffs in 2 yrs (likely, since they almost made it this year before Embiid went down)

The trade is actually WORSE!!!
