Jackson reminds me of Corey Brewer that came out of Florida years ago with Horford and Noah.  I think Id like Tatum

I'm falling more and more in love with the potential Tatum pick. The article said he really impressed with his shot-making and footwork today. The kid is going to end up a mixture of Pierce, Anthony, and Parker, though I think he's significantly more athletic than all three, possibly even longer with more potential for putting on size, too.

Here's a nice write-up on Tatum and his humble beginnings. I love him even more now that I know he's from my neck of the woods. He's going to be AB awesome fit next to Jaylen on the wings/forward spots.

I disagree on the athleticism point.

Carmelo Anthony was insane athletically when he was in his prime.  One of the fastest first steps you'll ever see.

Also, Jabari Parker is a freak athlete at his weight too.  Definitely more explosive and quick twitch.

I would definitely say he's more athletic than Pierce.

A year ago, Tatum was a stick figure.  This past season, he was noticeably thicker including in the legs.  If he continues to build muscle, is it reasonable to expect his speed, quickness, and jumping ability to improve?  I tend to think so, but I'm not sure.

That article mentions he might be a tick higher talented than Nicolas Batum, Harrison Barnes, Rudy Gay, and Allan Houston.

Those are solid players but that tick higher would have to be a major tick to get to the Pierce comparisons. Lol

Why exactly won't jackson workout for the Celts?
no one knows. Some say the agent wants him in a team that gives him minutes

Ball also won't work out for the team for similar reason.

Reading these comments has to make you love Jaylen Brown talking about how he appreciated having to earn every minute he played.

I have been saying thyTatum was the best player in the draft since the end of the college season.  I've see him play 20+ times, he will be a star.

Duke relied on him heavily in crunch time and he delivered.  He shows up in big games.  Having said all this I have never accurately predicted a Celtics draft pick, I think they draft Issac or Markkennan but I hope it's Tatum.
2019 historical draft.  Pick 12

Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Mitch Richmond, Sam Jones, Dan Majerle, Bob Cousy, Rasheed Wallace, Shawn Kemp, Marcus Camby

Be honest, did you want nothing to do with Brown last year?

No. I felt if boston could not trade three Brown would be the best option. Think Jackson is the same type of player as Brown but not nearly as good

Ball?  This is all posturing.  Ball doesn't fit on this team.

He's a great player, so I guess if you mean we don't have any other great players, you're right lol

His weaknesses are concerning. Too slow with his feet to guard NBA small forwards. Not big enough to play real big men kind of a tweener

doesn't everyone have weaknesses? Fultz doesn't play defense. Jackson's jumpshot has a hitch and he shoots 50% ft, fox can't make a jumper either, and balls shooting form is easily blocked

Ill take tatums weaknesses

1) I think the discrepancy here can largely be attributed to the types of shots being taken. Tatum seems to have taken many more of his shots out of isolation; whereas, it seems almost all of Jackson's offense was in the fast break, penetration to the bucket, or on spot-up threes. We need Tatum's isolation/scoring abilities that we currently lack outside of IT much more than Jackson's raw athletici

But if he's shooting sub-40% in those situations, how does it help us?

What did Paul Pierce's shot chart look like after his freshman year?  It seems like Tatum was statistically better than Lil' Truth in almost every way, and Pierce played a significant role on a Kansas team that had a good bit of talent so it's not a crazy comparison.

It would be crazy to predict that Tatum will be anywhere nearly as good as Pierce, but crazy predictions are all you have with players this young and undeveloped.  I mean, many of the same draft reports that rave over Josh Jackson also acknowledge that his basketball skills kind of suck.  This is the age of analytics but Lonzo Ball could go #2 with possibly the most broken shot of any lottery pick EVER.  Philly fans are doing backflips over a player so brittle he has played less than half a season in the last three years and two "superstars" who couldn't even drag their teams to the NCAA tournament.

It's all about evaluation and development now and Ainge and Stevens have built a pretty good track record.
