Look, there's plenty of reasons not to like Jackson, but "he isn't a volume scorer!" isn't one of them. If you don't think players who aren't volume scorers can't be good NBA players, then you should go look up this guy named Draymond Green.

That said, I actually agree that we shouldn't draft Jackson, but it has more to do with:
-56FT%. Can opposing teams ignore him on the perimeter and hack him in transition?
-Skinny with short arms. If he can't play small-ball 4 then his value as a versatile defender takes a big hit, and most elite perimeter defenders have plus length.
-He was usually defended by NCAA 4's. We've seen before that perimeter-oriented NBA 3's who got to play against NCAA 4's often really struggle to translate their offensive game. Justice Winslow, who was a two-way stud routinely blowing by NCAA 4's, is exhibit A. There's a massive difference in lateral quickness between NCAA bigs and NBA wings.
-19 years old, a full year older than Tatum and half a year older than Isaac.

Its a good thing they both don't share the same attitude and demeanor when approaching certain subjects or matters, especially when it relates to the future of their NBA careers. Oh wait.

The free throws don't concern me. I doubt it's something he's put a lot of time and effort into practicing thusfar. If he's a hard worker he'll fix that.

What concerns me are his short arms and the hitch in his jumpshot.

My one issue with Jackson is that the Celtics didn't get to work him out. While I know they have a ton of tape, it seems pretty clear that Fultz' 2 day visit in Boston must have influenced their decision to trade the pick.

Not that this makes any difference at all, but nbadraft.net still has Josh Jackson as their #1 overall player, with Fultz being #2. If Danny sees it the same way, then he has to take him. Always take the best player available, regardless of need. I believe Jackson was thought to be the best player in the country going into the college basketball season. Putting up good numbers, on a crap team, shouldn't automatically catapult Fultz.

Speaking of Fultz, when it comes to defense, having the physical tools and having the desire, are two totally different things. If you don't have the desire, the physical tools don't matter. Passing on Fultz, tells me Danny will extend Thomas, as the Celtics don't need two guys that are sieves on defense.

This is my concern as well. You can find a lot about a player up close.

I heard Scal say that Markkanen hit 24-25 3's after missing his first one in his workout. He was there playing against him and saw it.

The workout thing is overblown. If Danny wanted the world to know that he was having a private workout with Jackson, we would know. He's been tracking these guys for a couple of years. I think there might be some misdirection here.

Everything any the two is similar...

Same strengths,  same weaknesses.   Similar size, though Smith was taller and longer.   Similar shooting troubles.   Both good passers.  Both have limited offensive ability and rely heavily on athleticism fo t  that.   Both are similar calibre rebounders.  Both have questionable attitudes.

Yeah, very similar players. But Josh Smith was more talented then Jackson.   He had the body to pay PF quite effectively in both ends,  while Jackson does not.
