And the question becomes, will this be the downfall of Danny Ainge?

Has he become too trade hungry and arrogant that he will get the best deal?  Has trader Danny done GM Danny and thus the Boston Celtics a disservice with this move?

Even if the Celtics end up with two top 5 picks next year.  If it becomes a 1-horse draft.  The Celtics will have screwed themselves out of taking a Star player this year and in 2018.  Plus with the 2-5 protection reportedly agreed upon, the C's miss out if Lakers end up with #1 or #6 or later!

If say DA trades the 2017 #3 pick and salary filler and bodies for Butler or George I will be mollified.  But giving up on Fultz' talent is really a bad deal imo.  Especially if the return is a non-shooting Josh Jackson.  If this move goes down as reported we MUST trade OUT of this draft and get an established star player!

Trading out of this draft was his intentions. Fultz was the best move he could of made. But he went and signed 30 year old Al Horford and put himself in a position to have no choice but to win now. Could of just kept rebuilding through the draft. Players are there, got a great young coach. Fans were behind him. Ainge done backed himself in a corner last year signing big Al and missing out on KD. He takes to many risky gambles. Not good. PG, Butler, Hayward is not gonna get him to the Finals. If you cant beat the Cavs how you gonna compete with the Warriors ? This is a disgrace

I don't consider Wyc to be a dummy. You know Ainge had to convince him.

Then you have Brad.

There's something more going on here.

When you sign a player for 1 year do you call it an 8 month contract?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I think we as Celtic fans bought into the Fultz hype a little too much. I mean, he looks really good, but he is by no means destined for superstardom. Even Chad Ford has Ball in the same tier as Fultz and Jackson also received tier 1 votes. As far a player that fits our team perfectly, Jackson is the guy...and if LA takes him, well, we get the other tier 1 player.

And enough of the nonsense about firing Ainge. We got the #3 last year, #3 this year, and likely two top 5 picks next year (as well as James Young!) for the corpses of KG and Pierce. While most gms would have let those guys play out their contracts, Ainge got incredible value.

People are allowed to feel however they want to feel, but this isn't trading Tim Duncan for Keith Van Horn. We all just need to calm down and enjoy this incredible time to be a Cs fan.
