Wow that was DEVASTATING.

Go from #3 and TWO future picks to just 1 now??  :'(

And trading for George/Butler makes ZERO SENSE, even if we sign Griffin/Hayward.

George is an EXPIRING, and Butler still doesn't get us past CLE, let alone Golden State.

And we have AB, Crowder, Brown, Jackson(?), and Hayward(?). How do we manage minutes for all that if we traded for Butler too? (Even if Butler is the better player of most of that group... That's still a lot of guys to try and spread minutes out for).

Starting to think Ainge went a little over his head here.

It would be justified if he traded all this for a guy like Anthony Davis, but that's probably a PIPE DREAM.

If Fultz becomes a superstar for Philly and they become a super team as a result, maybe we really should think about firing Ainge on the spot. This isn't 2008 anymore.

It was probably  never 2 picks. The rumor about 2 picks was miscommunication on the complex protection

Yes.

Bryan freaking Colangelo.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Firstoff, threads like these tend to make posters look a hit dumb a few years down the line.

Second, the line about firing Ainge on the spot... in a few years is a bit funny.

If Fultz averaged 18 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists on no worse than 44/34/75 shooting splits in this rookie year of his, AND we miss out on the Lakers pick, and we don't get past Cleveland in the ECF, Danny needs to get fired the minute our season ends.

This is indeed a huge gamble.

ESPECIALLY when we also own the BKN  18 first pick. Celtics could have two picks in the first five next year. That is enough to make a GodFather offer to go get AD.

This is the biggest gamble in a long, long time. Danny Ainge has always been a gambler, though, and a [dang] good one at that. But man, he's going to have to get so unbelievably lucky for this to work out.

Dude, I live off threads like these.

I advocated trading KG and Pierce for future assets two years before it happened.

The term "Danny Ainge fanboi" has been invented for me.

I could live with the trade if there was no protection. But there is, so I am not happy. I will trade with the Lakers before I trade with Philly. There is no reason to help a division rival.

How do you not see the protection helps the Celtics outside the Lakers getting extremely lucky and landing the #1 ... Celtics keep anything from 2-5 ... they dont want 6 or lower... and Sac is a total crap shoot that will be bottom 3 for next three years ...

yeah we have so many picks now we are not keeping them all. now we can keep some and keep drafting and develping to add to brown AND trade some picks for players and help RIGHT NOW. doubtful we get AD. we needed the #1 pick for that deal. I will bet we sign hayward in FA and butler or PG though now using picks in a trade.  maybe griffin. who knows but i do not see blake coming.
LET'S GO CELTICS!
