Considering we essentially got IT through the trade exception created by that trade, it's already a win.

Eh.  IMO the trade has to be viewed separately from the picks.  We got a mid-round first in a mediocre draft, a #3 pick in a poor draft, a swap for the #1 in a projected very good draft, and a likely high pick in another projected good draft.  That's excellent value for two aging players who no longer had the ability to carry a franchise. 

The picks themselves are separate decisions and should be analyzed as such.

A pretty good piece and a nice reminder that as great as this trade has turned out, there was a lot of good luck for Boston and bad management in Brooklyn that has made it this way.
