I'm in the camp of PhoSita and jpotter33.

Still If we have the 3rd pick, I would indeed also trade down further. Not really that high on Ball, Jackson, Fox or Tatum.

If we really trade down to 3 I'm hoping it's because Ainge thinks the Lakers will take Jackson and we end up with Ball.

I like Fultz a lot better than Ball but at least Ball is a wacky and potentially really fun pick.

So let's say the guy is really Jackson and we actually get him. We'd have Jackson, Jaylen, Jae and we're linked to Hayward in free agency.

Lots o' small forwards there.

Yeah ...

First of all, I don't think having too many 6'6'' - 6'9'' wings is a "problem" in today's league.  You need lots of those guys to compete with the elite teams.

With that said ...

The BIGGEST gap between the Celts are the truly elite squads is the lack of MVP caliber talent.  Yes, they have IT, but he's just one guy.  Fultz could be a second.  AND Fultz could be that kind of player long after IT has begun to decline.

I really don't see Jackson as that kind of prospect.  To me he's at best an Andre Iguodala / Joe Johnson type of player.

Tatum have the same scoring potential as Fultz and unlike Fultz, he actually fills a positional need. All Fultz have on the defensive end is potential.

Tatum to me looks like another Tobias Harris, Harrison Barnes, Jabari Parker, Michael Beasley, Derrick Williams, etc.  Maybe best case he's similar to Carmelo.

Basically ... could be a nice offensive piece, or could be a tweener.  But probably a defensive liability.  And it's hard to find many examples of players like that filling a big role on a good team.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

No he doesn't. We already have Brown - Crowder, not to mention we may sign Hayward as well.

If we take Ball at three the look of shock on his face, may rival Paul Pierce's when he was selected.

Fox is interesting. Especially if Josh Jackson goes to LAL at #2.

Not interested in Ball either. I forget where he is on my board. Somewhere like 7 to 9.

I don't know enough about the prospects but what I read, I'd take Tatum.

Trade down with the Kings

#3 + #37 for #5 + #10

Use #5 to draft Isaac
Use #10 to draft Ntilikina

Yeah if Jackson's gone I like those two at 5 and 10.  Isaac is a wild card and could turn out better than anyone (big gamble).  I'm guessing Ntilikina will be gone by 10 though, I think either to Minny or  Dallas or NY.

So you're not counting the possibility that Fultz could be another Dante Exum or Tyreke Evans?

I see Celtics getting fleeced trading Fultz for Tatum ( Jackson to LA ) and LA 2018 .....

Fultz becomes Harden 2.0'

Celtics waterloo of stupid decsions about to unfold

when the right choice is staring DA in the face. SMH

Fultz being Harden 2.0 is not set in stone. Like I said, Fultz could actually end up like Tyreke Evans or Dante Exum for all we know.

Actually neither of those players were picked at #1.

Tyreke Evans was #4 overall and Dante Exum #5 overall.

So it is much more likely that if we trade DOWN that WE end up with the Tyreke Evans or the Dante Exum of the draft.

Moving down from #1 is very RISKY.  LA could well take Josh Jackson at #2.  And Fultz will be gone.  I'm going to puke if we end up with Ball or Monk instead of a future 20ppg+ all-star.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Jesus Christ, we have a star being served on a platter and we're saying no thanks?

And we have to settle for either Jayson Tatum or Josh Jackson, or MOVE DOWN?

Darn it this is frustrating.

As for the #3, let's go all in or go home, pick Dennis Smith, Jr.!
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

If Danny wants Jackson, just draft him. Do not risk the chance that the Lakers and Sixers take both Fultz and JAckson.
