Kevin Love 22,8m
DMC 16,8m
That is perhaps the 2nd best option (PG) Cavs could get for Love. Cousins has the higher upside to fit better against GSW then Love showed. He is also a player Draymond described as a problem for them. Also he is in his contract year. Benefiting them two-fold, with his probable better effort, read career year and clearing considerable space for the summer of 2018. They would still be over the cap that year, but then, one of those JR, TT and Shump deals could already be movable. With Love, I think only the repeater tax is their fate. Minimizing their free agent player exception possibilities too.
Why would Pels do this trade?
Trade would have some benefits. Having the AD/Love at the 4 and 5 is no joke. Their problems are at the wing position. They could squeeze out a 1st rounder from Cleveland, that would help them. They have traded their last 5 1sts, so they would move that one aswell to get some wing. They will go hard to resign Holyday and then they would chase the playoffs. Love's contract lasts untill 2020. That is a much safer bet than DMC and his situation.
The deal wouldn't work straight up. Some pieces would need to be added for the salaries to match, but 6m is not much. They could include a 3rd team if neccesary.
Could this be one of those trades that benefit both teams or not?
