A guy like Josh Jackson (or Tatum) is in the draft every year.

But getting the #1 pick and getting a shot at a franchise prospect like Fultz? Almost never happens. A prospect of his caliber comes along say every other year, and unless you're perpetually awful like Philly has been, you'll be lucky to get a guy of this caliber once in a generation.

Ainge can't be stupid enough to trade that opportunity away for a nice yet unspectacular prospect like Jackson and some other future asset of middling value. You cash in this chip now and thank God it fell into your lap.

I suspect this is all just noise. Unless the trade returns something like Anthony Davis, Ainge won't consider moving this pick, and drafting anyone else ahead of Fultz is ludicrous.

Yep, this. Exactly this. For your own sanity, ETN, I recommend leaving it at this and coming back to CB next Thursday at around 8:35 once Markelle is on the Celtics. I'd do the same, but I've already been driven mad by the nonsense I've been digesting from ESPN, CB, etc.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Wonder if this is doc.

Could be Ryan McDonough

Ha ha!  The more I think about it, maybe this 'information' was purposely put out there by Danny himself ... in order to motivate Jackson (and even Ball) to maybe change his mind and at least come back in for a workout.

That wouldn't necessarily mean a thing about who Danny intends to take or not.  But one thing we do know is that Danny tries very hard to interview and workout every top prospect he can while he can (once they are signed to another team he can't talk to them for 2-4 years, until they become free agents again).

Danny and staff know that Jackson prefers to play for the Lakers .... He is from the LA area

But also...

Jackson is not from the LA area. He is from Southfield Michigan just outside of Detroit. 30 min away from Miles Bridges in Flint. He spent his last year in HS in California.

You are right. But he was born in...

Born: February 10, 1997 (age 20)
San Diego, California

Curry was born in Akron Ohio. I wouldn't make the claim that he wants to play for the Cavs just like LeBron.

Place of birth doesn't matter, triboy. Its where you grew up that counts. I had a guy on Facebook trying to tell me Nerlens Noel was from Malden because he was listed as being born there even though I watched Nerlens grow up in my neighborhood of Everett for most of his life.

Ok he has worked out for the Lakers twice and zero elsewhere .. what does this tell you?

He has a preference

But the twitter link I posted, indicates he would have no problem playing for the Celtics

More on topic. I like Jackson alot but I cant say that I have seen his game grow much over the past three years. This does not mean he wont get better, just saying I havent seen alot of growth in his game. I would prefer to pick a player like Fultz or Tatum simply because I know they work hard on their game. Same thing I knew about Brown last year.

Yes Im sure he might have a preference but Im not sure its the Lakers based on the fact he was born in Southern Cali. Other things matter like playing time, fit, desire to win.

do you have a source for this statement? i have not seen this before. and let's take care to not join the rush of those posters who may believe LA roots automatically mean a desire to be in LA for each player.

and even if they do so out of college, they can change their mind...ala pierce.

one more thing, jackson went to school in kansas, about as un-LA as you can get. he did not choose UCLA, USC, Riverside, etc. etc. etc.

I searched, and found nothing. Even in his interviews right after the workouts Jackson expresses no preference for the Lakers over any other team.

But that doesn't matter. Jackson wants to play in LA. And, "Danny knows that."

How are we privy to this information, you might ask? Well, it's simple. We are lucky enough to have a poster here who has a direct line into the brain of every other human being on the planet.

Ummm, since January starting with the Texas game JJ shot 25 for 49 from 3 point range (shot 9 for 41 prior to that game). If that's not improvement I don't know what is. I'm still in the Fultz camp without question but JJ DID get better as the season went on. No question about that. He also improved his REB/game significantly during that time. The only thing I'm worried about is his carelessness with the ball and unforced turnovers. A good coach (or a Marcus Smart) can beat that out of you at a young age.

good point on the improved shooting. though it is only a very very small sample, so is the sample showing poor shooting early in the year.

i think the only problem with jackson's shooting, assuming the 3 point percentage holds up, would be his mid range jump shot. his mechanics still seem odd there.

but, as much as i like jackson, fultz is the pick to make....unless danny sees something we don't.

All this talk about if guys want to be drafted by one team vs another and if they like us or not is BS. These guys are rookies who have to play for whoever drafts them for several years. They are not free agents. That rule hasn't changed the last time I checked.

That post is a great example of what I'm talking about. Thanks for supporting my point. There are other reasons he could be working out for the Lakers and not other teams. You don't really know what is going on in his head or his agent's head or anyone else's.
