Agree Nader  is better but I think it is mental, not physical.

Amazing difference  between he and Jaylen  at the same age.

nader is almost ambidextrous in his ability to finish,he is also a better ball handler and passer-with young you never no if it was an age thing and he needed to put on weight
Nader has a nice frame with 7-1 wingspan will be cheaper to keep
It is tough to give up a guy after 3 years invested and he is 21-nader is committed and took red claws over europe

Young was a bust for us, but I'll continue to defend the decision to draft him.  At the time, he was a highly-regarded prospect who played a key role in getting Kentucky to the championship game.  He was thought to be a top 10 pick until an ankle injury caused him to slide.  But he was a very raw kid, and it took him a few years to learn how to work.  By the time his head got in the right place, he had already lost his spot to a superior prospect in Jaylen Brown. 

I still think there's upside in there.  He's a deep shooter in a deep-shooting league - somebody will take a chance, and he does have the tools to turn into a serviceable player.  But he didn't earn a new contract with us.

Young finally learned to play hard this past year.  I think he will be a contributor somewhere.

he plays a position of need in the league and has good size. I think he sticks on the end of a bench next season and keeps working. Maybe he is a rotation level player on a non playoff team in another year or two.

He was worth the pick at the time things just didnt work out. His shot wasn't consistent and he isnt athletic enough to contribute when his shot isn't falling.

It wouldn't shock me if Young ends up having a similar path to Mo Harkless.  Seems like it took Mo a number of years to do anything, but he hung around, and eventually found a role in the NBA.  I am not writing James Young's NBA career off yet, though I doubt he will be a Celtic next season.

If I were a team devoid of young talent, I'd definitely take a shot at James on a value contract.

I'm not quite convinced Nader will be all that good. At best he might turn out to a B+ version of Jerebko.

Brad's willingness to play Young more than one would expect makes me feel he sees something in him....i.e., his shooting. Kind of spooky how often he came cold off the bench and he'd start hitting 3's. Perhaps he's a practice squad superstar? It just doesn't translate to his NBA game.

Could very well be Nader is better, then again there may be better options than either of them.

James Young was NOT drafted by the right team. He wasn't ready to play, and when you stack up the guard rotation, he didn't have a shot. If he can fix his defensive holes, he will make it. He needs REPS REPS REPS, and he needs needs a bottom feeder like the nets to give them to him. The  Celtics were just a bad fit for James Young. I wish him well.

 Wrong. He sucks. He's soft. No work ethic. Ainge actually learned a lot by drafting that scrub.. Garry Harris was the true Ainge type guy he's doing great.

 Hood was the other great choice. He made the wrong decision, but he will be a better GM because of it.

We missed out on Harris and hood but at the time, like others said, young was a high profile prospect. At one point he was projected to be a top 5 pick. Highly rated in high school
