It seems like everyone in the media and social media are split on these two LOL.

So many varying comments and preferences.

It's definitely a hard decision for Ainge as this thread's headline suggests.

Blake's injury history may be what sets it apart, BUT he's still a very solid Plan B.

Hayward. His season statistics year after year have improved nicely and he is entering his prime. His 3 pt shot and jumpshot in general and all around game will fit nicely

Griffin relies too much on athleticism and won't age well. Also his injury history is bad

The second part of your post is simply untrue of Griffin nowadays. A couple of years ago that was a legitimate criticism of his game, but no longer does it apply. BG has become a great scorer in the low and high post, as well as a good mid-range game and developing 3 point game. He's also one of the best playmaking bigs in the game. His athleticism is not his lone strength anymore.

I know this sounds hyperbolic, but I honestly think that Hayward will be a serious MVP candidate if he comes here. It's kind of cynical because part of my rational is that Hayward is white, but I think Stevens will have a field day using him.

Blake is a better fit but we can't afford to lock up that much salary in an injury risk.

Can you explain that a little more?

Our 3 white MVP's? Is that it? The most similar of the three to Hayward is Bird, and that's quite a stretch.

A healthy Blake Griffin is in my opinion both the better player (not by as much as people may think) and better fit.  The problem is that he hasn't been healthy for the last two years.

I think Hayward is still improving and I would prefer him over Griffin.  The C's have the assets to trade for a big that can help them.  It wouldn't have to be a star player, just a role player that can provide some defense or rebounding.

I vote Hayward, but would take either.

Well the question is what potential all star big might be on the trade block within the next year?  Maybe Love in Lebron bolts, or Aldridge if SA wants to go in a different direction.

We at least know now that Butler and George could be on the trade block, and maybe more all star wings within a year.

I say sign the all star big in a position of need, and if we want to trade for a wing all star later on it may be an easier get. Who knows maybe J Brown will surprise us in year 2, and take a big leap in his game.

A multi skilled big man duo of Horford and Griffin is very enticing.

As much as it seems like these guys are years apart, Blake is almost exactly one year older than Hayward (28 vs 27) and has been in the league exactly one year longer (2009 vs 2010). BUT Blake had a "redshirt" rookie season with injury. Blake still may well have the higher odometer, plus the longer injury checklist. Those are problematic.

However, Blake is also the better, more complete player, when both are healthy. Last season their PPG was about the same, while Griffin had higher assist and rebound per game rates.

Not to mention - Jaylen Brown could end up having a really nice Year 2, while Jae (though I can't stand watching him) is still a valuable guy with good +/- numbers and strong defense. AND, there are always strong trade candidates at the 3 spot (PG, Butler) throughout the year.
