Now the fun begins. Should Ainge get in the talks for Love?

To Cavs - Paul George, Rozier, Celtics 2018 #1

To Pacers - AB, KO, 2017 #35 and 53

To Celtics - Love

IT\Jackson
Brown\Fultz
Hayward\Crowder\Nader
Horford\Yabu
Love\Zizic

That is a team that can win the East over the Cavs. We may lose next year but going forward this is a team that can get to Finals the following year.

That's not financially possible.

Also, why didn't/doesn't the Celtics just trade that package for PG13 straight up? The Celtics would be crazy to not do that.

That trade craps all over proven players (AB, Rozier) and puts a ton of faith in unknowns (Zizic, Yabu, Demetrius Jackson).

Crowder in for Rozier works financially though.

I would rather give Love the money verses giving KO money. Love would give us the 3 point shooting and vastly improve our rebounding.

IT, Love, Hayward and Horford are the Core 4 until Fultz, Brown, 18 Nets pick are ready.

I soured on Love in the finals. Feels like this would not work out.

No, it doesn't.  We need to shed salary to sign Hayward.  If we get rid of our lesser free agents, we would still need to shed around $9 million.  Getting rid of Olynyk or Bradley would get us close, but not if it involves bringing salary back.

Throw in Zeller and it can work.

My point is you solve 2 things by getting Love...3 point shooting and rebounding. Sure we'd be over the cap but we keep all of our premium picks. Stevens has 3 All Stars and the rest of the roster is filled with guys on rookie deals...Fultz, Brown, Nets 18, Yabu, Nader, Jackson and Zizic.

No way Cavs will let Love play for the Celtics
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Zeller would have to be waived already in order to sign Hayward
I'm bitter.

Kelly Olynyk would have to agree to a sign and trade to Indiana. Maybe he doesn't want to go to Indiana. I know I wouldn't.

Also, it appears Hayward would be unattainable because of this trade.

Lastly, you are putting faith in a bench that has exactly one player with any type of NBA experience. That bench could suck for years.

100% right.  They would trade him to the Clippers for Blake Griffin because they wouldn't have to face both the Clippers and the Warriors to win the title.  They would trade him to NY for Melo (and a player or pick) because it wouldn't make the Knicks a threat.

But they wouldn't trade Love to C's as that might be the missing piece to building a team to beat the Cavs.

I could see the Clippers deal happening.  Love went to UCLA and is a West Coast guy.  Blake's injury history scares the Clips.  But the Cavs might role the dice to get a guy like Blake who would be a perfect complement to Lebron and Kyrie.

This.  I don't want to lecture people, but there are way too many threads that are failing to take into account the limitations of the salary cap.  Many threads are proposing trades and signings that are not possible.

Ok I got it.

I'm trying to think of a way to get 2 FAs or 1 FA and a major trade. A top rookie and a FA isn't enough.

Ainge said he's not punting so I suspect he's open to many things.
